Criminal investigation launched after feds fire pepper ball at CBS Chicago reporter's truck

The Village of Broadview said they've launched a criminal investigation after a CBS News Chicago reporter had a projectile fired at her vehicle by an ICE agent late Sunday morning.

Reporter Asal Rezaei said there was no active protest or protesters at the facility, and she was alone with no one around her at the time of the incident.

In a report filed with Broadview police, Rezaei said she was driving her truck with her driver's side window down, while approaching the 25th Avenue entrance to see if any activity was taking place, before leaving the area.

That's when she said a masked ICE agent, who saw her window down, shot a pepper ball about 50 feet from the inside of the fence, hitting her truck's driver's side panel, causing the chemical agents to engulf the inside of her truck.

Rezaei said the pepper ball left white powder on her windshield, and her face had "been on fire for at least the last 10 minutes or so." The chemical also caused her to vomit once outside of her truck, she said.

What I can tell you is that tariffs will increase the cost of raw materials needed to build homes and apartments - and that will mean home prices increase - and fewer homes will be produced as a result and there will be fewer workers because less homes are being made.

You forget to mention the part that private equity is playing into housing costs. Private equity is the single largest purchaser of single family homes in alot of states like GA. In Atlanta private equity is purchasing almost 1/3rd of all new homes that come into the market.

The cost of lumber, gypsum, drywall, appliances, steel, aluminum are just a few.... copper has gone up with a 50% tarriff,

That doesn't even get into uncertainty of products in construction going forward which will increase costs to cover risks.

“The huge increases in steel and aluminum tariffs appears to have enabled domestic producers to push up their selling prices,” said Ken Simonson, the association’s chief economist. He noted that the AGC-NCCER survey found that 43 percent of contractors reported at least one project in the past six months had been canceled, postponed or scaled back because of higher costs. “These price increases are prompting some owners to rethink planned construction projects.”

If you really were so concerned about housing, you would go after AirB&B and investment equity.... instead you need a basis to justify goons pulling people off the streets.

 

Nearly 75% of the soft lumber used in construction comes from Canada .... nearly 75% of drywall and gypsum comes from Mexico..... over 50% of all appliances in home construction are from China.......

 

Tariffs are working to shift that production back to the USA. A great thing for American jobs and real wage growth.

Correct on lumber. The massive spike in new housing costs during the pandemic housing boom was in large part due to Trump 1.0’s tariffs on Canada resulting in shutting down lumber production.
