You did not want to miss the first ft, but since it was missed, the second one should be intentionally missed so that the opponent would not have any time left and then used a time out to orchestra a last shot.
But if he makes that FT and the rockets have a 4 pt lead then it doesn't matter if Sacramento makes a basket. They just needed to play token defense, and not foul so the Kings wouldn't have any chance to tie it up. I sure hope he didn't miss that FT intentionally because that's just bad strategy.
ok dude.. Of course I'm happy!! in fact I think Yao has crazy potential too.. but he needs a consistent temperament necessary to becoming great. What i meant was he's still pretty young, how much he keeps improving even when he's in the top will decide his place in history, not now. (note KG is still working to 'refine' his game after an MVP season!!) Yao can outright jaw dropping dominate.. you could already tell from the rookie game vs bradley. Frankly after the past two games, I believe this team can go deeper in playoffs than expected!
I just saw the SA/Seattle game and I just gained a new respect for what Yao has to deal with night after night. Seattle was doubling and fronting Tim Duncan and it really lowered his production, he was like 4/16 shooting though he scored in double figures because of his free throws with 5 TOs. If this works against a stud like Tim Duncan then we have to cut some slack on Yao when it happens to him. Yao seems to do great when he is single teamed and shows his great potential. Yao appropriately passes out most times when he sees the double which lowers his shots per game when teams double him, its up to the Rox to find a couple of consistent shooters that knock down the open J on the double. I think the Yao haters have a personal grudge against Yao for whatever reason and don't recognize how difficult it is to play against a tough double/front defense. I do now.
I saw the game on TV. The best part of Yao's performance were the rebounds he got in traffic on the Kings last 2 possessions. He waded in; grabbed the ball from Miller, Webber & Peja and protected it. That was awsome!
I felt this way for a while. The way the current zone defense is set, it makes it EXTREMELY hard to get an offensive post player more involved. A team can front the post player while having a guy from the weak side sag down behind him in the paint (which was previously "illegal defense") and pretty much stops any attempt to pass down low. I hate the zone defense and I believe it has ruined the game. The league and fans complain about the college-like low scores, but what do you expect when you insert a college defense? I really hope the league looks at this this summer.

The league should really look into the rules. The game for the most part has just become a jump shooting league.
The pendulum is beginning to swing back. Great. Too much is expected of Yao. People love it that he is a 7-5, 300lb+ giant who can shoot the midrange jumpers, is a good free-thrower, pass and is a team player. That however is not enough. A person of Yao's stature just invites fantasies. People now want him to be lightning quick with boundless energy running up and down the floor, dunking on every possession. Anything short of a championship would mark Yao's career a failure. Yao's strength are many but so are his weaknesses -- stamina and quickness (though he is plenty quick given his size). Opposing teams would be foolish not to exploit his weaknesses and the Rockets would be foolish not to exploit Yao's strength. When Yao is on the floor, games basically boils down who does a better job at exploiting Yao. The recent rule changes also does not help Yao's game. Yao is going to continue to have great games and bad ones. Yao however is noticeably in better shape this year. His list of weaknesses grows shorter...
