There are plenty of reasons to be disheartened by the Texans and nobody can be blamed for being disappointed or disillusioned by what's happened with their season through 3 games. This is not that thread. This thread is a place for positive vibes moving forward through what looks like another tough year for Houston Football fans. - This team is 2 decent lineman away from being 3-0 The Texans losses are by 5,1, and 7 points. In a game of inches the hurries and sacks that just 2 decent lineman added to this team might avoid would likely be the difference in 0-3 and 3-0. - Things should only get better from here Caley should only get better as he settles in at OC. Ditto for Stroud learning the offense and Ersery, Higgins and Noel getting acclimated to the pros and earning the trust of the staff. The Texans just need to weather the storm. - Flaming out this season brings on an easier schedule to iron out the kinks next year Whether Caley gets his footing and is back or the offense is terrible and he's fired, next season should bring an easier schedule for the Texans to tune up against in the hopes of making a run.
The teams we played are something like a combined 7-2. We lost all three games essentially on the final drive. 2 were from fumbles in the red zone on go ahead or tying drives. The third was because we couldn't tackle a slippery quarterback (with the heart of a champion, by the way) on fourth down. That being said, we can stand to keep ourselves out of those positions. But call me optimistic. This team was always going to be worse in the first half of the season. Tougher schedule. New offensive line. New offensive coordinator. While 0-3 is surprising, 1-2 would not have surprised me one bit. It is what it is. It doesn't mean our season is done.* I'd actually rather have had them struggle early. *If we go out and lose to the Titans, the season is done and Caserio will be fired, imo. We should win by at least two scores Sunday. If not, I'll be more worried.
Today will hopefully provide a little bit of positivity. Im just hoping the offense looks decent against a pretty sorry defense and the Texans don't let Cam Ward feel at home at NRG. They NEED this to be a turnaround game.
Woody Marks looks like a great find. More and more I'm being disillusioned about Mixon and if he will be back this season, or if he will be able to truly help us even if he is. But after what I've seen of Woody, I don't mind so much. I want to see more and more of him in the passing game. Let's get him on more screen passes in space where he can use those beautiful juke moves to greatest effect.
Woody is making a strong case to be the starter, IMO there ramping him up each game to get more touches. The fact that Mixon has been MIA since camp started tells me, he`s not at the facility rehabbing, so what the hell is the deal, legal issues, I mean seriously, if the dude is out for the year just tell us......................between the Astros medical staff and this type of nonsense I don't trust either organization. But at least tell us something
IIRC he is on Non-Football Injury (NFI) list. (knocking on wood) there might be something HIPAA related that they can only disclose if Mixon gives permission.
Marks has been a revelation at tailback. I think, at a minimum, they have a guy who can make up part of a good 1-2 punch. I'd like to get one other back in the draft to carry some of the load there ensuring there is always a set of fresh legs. A ground game opens things up for Stroud almost as much as quality oline play. Speaking of, I think they might end up ok on the line with Ersery improving and Andrews getting healthy. Ingram and Howard on the right side is good enough. Id love to see Fisher be good enough to earn some reps allowing Howard to play LG. Not counting on that though.
