We'll see. I think Sheppard will start at first. I do think Okogie is going to get a lot of opportunities. My guess as to the rotation: Sheppard / Holiday Amen / Okogie Durant / Eason Smith / DFS Sengun / Adams or Capela
I know. I’m just saying that’s the guy they should let go to create space for a veteran minimum contract.
I disagree. One of the main things the Rockets will miss is Fred’s leadership. I think Holiday will be let go before Jeff Green.
The Rockets negotiated Green into turning down his implied no trade clause solely because they thought they might trade him. Holiday still has his implied no trade clause.
I would literally rather we just cancel the season than sign Russell Westbrook. He was so awful that our team imploded the first time. And you want to bring him back when he's substantially worse at basketball? Aaron Holiday is better than Westbrook at this point. Also, apparently the reason Westbrook can't stick anywhere is that, while I acknowledge that he is still good enough to be a professional basketball player, he is one of those guys who doesn't understand he's no longer a superstar and still tries to swing his dick around in the locker room like he's the guy. And he's just not. Raja Bell, who is probably the biggest Westbrook stan in the media that I'm aware of, acknowledged that's what he's hearing about Russ. The good news is that we can't trade Holiday until December 15th anyway. So even if the Rockets wanted to make such a colossal mistake, they can't!
Couldn't agree more. Aaron Holiday is both a better player at this point than Westbrook and a better fit for the Rockets. Westbrook's low-percentage chucking was a prime reason the Nuggets lost to the Thunder in the playoffs. He was even worse in the playoffs the season before for the Clippers- shooting 26 % from the field. If he would adjust his game and focus on defense and taking higher-percentage shots, he might still be a good role player. He still thinks he's an MVP candidate though and makes terrible decisions on offense. He makes Jalen Green look like a smart basketball player. Aaron Holiday is a good shooter and a decent defensive player. He's not a creator but he can bring the ball up the court against pressure. He fits well with Durant, Sengun and Amen because he will space the floor on offense. He's a great 3rd-PG on a roster and a competent backup. Our team currently has two available guards on the roster. Amen is a combo forward who we've decided to try to convert to a guard. It's an uncomfortable fact that Aaron Holiday is currently indispensable to our roster. The right decision is to see how Reed and Amen function in the backcourt until December 15th. If that's not working well then we have some flexibility to make a trade for a competent NBA starting guard after that date.
