Do you not like Collins/WA/Hunter/Stingley/Lassiter/Bullock/Ersery? Mixon/Howard when healthy/ I like the Ingram/Andrews additions.
The OL isn't as bad as it looks according to Ryans. What's wrong with the Texans falls directly on CJ. He's gunshy and they need to move on, although I'm not sure this is the yr to draft a QB.
They've given him what he wants. (More control over the offense) and this is what it looks like. QB's that are gunshy and regress almost never are successful QB's.
Most fans dont want to admit this and the Texans are setting themselves up for failure if they re-sign CJ. Although I'm giving him this yr. Hopefully he can turn things around. Cecil Shorts on Seth Payne's podcast should be required listening.
You dont believe what Ryans and PFF are telling you then. They're saying the OL isn't as bad as it looks. Yes, he's had 2 rookie OC's for one reason and one reason only. CJ ran Slowik out of town because he wanted more control over the offense. He's got that now and so far the results look really bad. I guess the offenses issues weren't entirely on Slowik after all. I tried to tell posters this to no avail. Slowik was getting interviews for HC jobs for a reason. Caserio hired Culley, the McNair's hired Lovie/Ryans. It's almost impossible to draft a successful OL when you're drafting for 3 different systems in 3 yrs. I actually think the OL is about avg this yr. Two things I'm critical of Caserio is that he knew Mixon was hurt and didn't have a better backup plan (Last yr was a great draft to draft a RB.) and last draft/FA he needed to upgrade the TE position particularly in Caley's offense.
I'm divided on this. I am, however, starting to feel like most of our developmental successes were on the D/St side of the ball where Demeco has more experience/control. Nico is the big exception but maybe he just connected quickly with Stroud. Plues, we've had some special teams issues since Demeco has been here but they got fixed in a few weeks. Outside of C.J. and Nico, what offensive player has Nick drafted that worked out? Any free agent moves on offense you love (Shultz looked good initially but now)? I'm fairly pro-Nick but I also feel that we have a HC that ensures a D/st that will perform above average. I'm starting to think that Nick doesn't add anything. IDK maybe I'm just piseed we're losing. On the other hand, I loved our picks this year. And, sorry for turning your comment into my place to rant.
Trading for Mixon was huge and we see how much he's missed. I also like adding Andrews a lot too. They've got the makings of a good OL. Andrews/Howard/ Ersery is learning on the job and shows promise. I'm watching Sadiq from Oregon right now. he made a big catch down the field and then made a great block to spring the RB for a long run. Other than QB he could make the biggest difference in this offense. Sadiq just makes another big 1st down catch on this drive as we speak. Dudes one of the best 10 players I've seen so far this yr. Not that I've seen a ton of college football.
Let’s be real the only issue is the OC and new scheme. Stroud played good behind a bad O-line his first year. Slowik got figured out in his 2nd year and couldn’t be creative enough to adjust so we fired him. Nick Caley, we see no glimpse of hope from his offense…this dude needs to be fired. Even if we come out tomorrow and put 50 on the titans it’s still not promising. We will have to beat the ravens for me to be won over to feel like we’re turning a corner but I’m not counting on it lol
Have you guys looked at the Texans' schedule recently? Gruesome! IF they play like they have in first three games the rest of the season, they could be looking at 4-13 finish or worse. Seriously. If you think I am crazy, check the schedule.
Still hasn't really spilled the beans: Give it time would have been easier to take if they were 2-1. Gotta get it turned around some today.
