CJ is visibly depressed. The out of town sports caps are a signal, "I want to be somewhere else." Unfortunately, teams looking for a QB probably aren't any better than the Texans. I think he is done in Houston. He has the arm, but not the intellect to improvise.
I do. He has been absolutely horrific at getting a line to protect CJ or an NFL OC to help CJ. The drafting my Caserio on the line has been the worst in the NFL - he then guts the offensive line and doesn't address it in free agency. Stroud has an OC that had never been an OC or called plays before - that guy loses his job and is replaced with another guy that has never been an OC before. It isn't shocking at all that Stroud has regressed, it would be beyond amazing if he hadn't. Right now, the Texas have a 2.5% chance of making the playoffs---- and no team in 35 years has started 0-3 and won their division. It is an absolute **** show and a lot of that is on Caserio. Caserio has been the GM for 5 seasons and has gone through 3 head coaches and 4 OC's. Two of the three OC's he has hired had ZERO experience calling plays or being an OC before he hired them. The third was Pep Hamilton, and he was known for being very poor at actual play calling.
To me, Caserio does a good job managing and finagling the cap. What we desperately need is a "player evaluater"
Respectfully disagree. He's at least partly to blame and we don't know, nor partly yet care, how much is on DeMeco and how much is on Nick. It's partly on both of them for the coaching (Slowik/Caley/OL coaches) on DeMeco and on the personnel and cap management decisions made by Nick. No GM is going to hit 100%, but between the free agents and draft picks, we've hit at a far too little rate on the offensive side in particular. Schultz is meh, none of the OLs we've drafted or brought in appear to be lifting the group either. Yeah we got Sting and WAJ correct, but that might be the only thing saving Nick right now. He has to do a better job on the offensive side and now we have the biggest question of all - what is CJ? Broken but fixable or broken beyond repair? Because of their collective mismanagement, we either have to extend him and pray (don't like that), keep kicking the can and maybe tag him (better option so we get to a "we know" position), or we have to decide when to pull the ripcord and restart the cycle. If they really like a QB in this coming draft, like Nussmeier, and are in position to take him, we might see the shocking move of trading CJ. If not this class, he sure better start to get in the know of potential top QBs and formulate a plan out of this mess or we'll just be the Texans version of the Jags.
I don't know what's going on and with who. But I think I'd listen to Stroud and see what he wants for the team before they entertain trading him.
I would rather not do that. I don’t trust his agency. Don’t want to trade him either, but definitely shouldn’t be listening to his advice on players.
You obviously don't watch enough youtube videos. It'll make everyone an expert. Mix in a rando podcast while you're at it.
I'm just saying the QB would be the last thing I'd want to give up over other players and coaches. Texans fans know how hard it's been to find a good QB over their entire franchise's history.
CJ has the arm, but not the "head." He processes slowly. The game is fast. Once the defensive coordinators started game planning for him, he declined. Frankly, he does not seem "bright" enough for the pro game. That "combine" test score mattered more than people realized.
What is going on is that deep in the pit of his stomach Stroud has come to the realization he is surrounded by incompetent assholes.
This is exactly where I’m at. Drafts before Ryan’s came in were horrendous. I think Caserio’s talent evaluation is lacking in a big way. To be honest, I’d like to see the Texans fire Caserio and reset at the GM position with someone proven or who has been an assistant under a good GM.
Wait...the backup and ST FB/hybridTE who I had never heard of until game 2(?) was the highest ranked player though 3 weeks? Actually, I kinda believe it. What sayeth @B-Bob?
