You know sometimes guys can return around 6 months after surgery, which would be around the time the playoffs start

Whether he would be any use or whether we'd want him out there coming off ACL surgery after not playing with the team the whole season...

I’m sorry but no one loves the team more than a big pay day.

Good guy, yet im sure everything be good with him coaching the team. He could be good coach for this first year run
with KD, plus this is a chance for his buddy Sheppard to excel, maybe he can help him gel as good Backup/Starter behind Amen.

Things guys say in their 30's, before we have to start using daily fiber supplements and Miralax.

    By ChatGPT:

For an NBA player in their early 30s, recovery from a torn ACL typically depends on a few key factors: severity of the tear, presence of additional knee damage (meniscus, cartilage, MCL), surgical outcome, rehab consistency, and overall health/athleticism.

    Typical timeline (for elite athletes):
    • Surgery to return-to-play: usually 9–12 months.
    • Some return earlier (7–9 months), but that carries higher risk of reinjury.
    • Full peak performance recovery often takes 12–18 months, even if the player is back on the court earlier.
    Age factor (early 30s):
    • Players in their early 30s tend to recover a bit slower than those in their 20s, since healing and tissue regeneration are not as fast.
    • NBA data suggests return-to-play rates after ACL reconstruction are still fairly high, but some players experience decline in explosiveness, lateral quickness, and defensive mobility. Guards and wings (who rely on quick cutting and speed) may be more affected than bigs.
    Example from NBA history:
    • Derrick Rose (late 20s, ACL tear) missed a full season.
    • Zach LaVine (early 20s) returned after ~11 months and regained All-Star form.
    • Older players (early 30s) often need closer to the 12-month mark before consistent playing time.

So, for an NBA player in their early 30s, you’re usually looking at 9–12 months to return to games, with 12–18 months before regaining pre-injury form—and there’s always a chance of permanent decline, depending on play style.

    It's a 1-year total recovery.

Not sometimes, that is rare, normally they are at 70 or 80% at best and at nowhere near game shape which they get after a played season.

If you want him re-injured please rush him back.

I don’t see any scenario where he plays this year. If we are competing for a top seed, it means we didn’t need him. If we start out slow without him, the Rockets will make a trade (they will not waste a year with Durant in the fold. If we suck it will probably be because of another injury or 2 to the core. Again, there would be no reason to bring him back.

I genuinely think they'll use him as an additional assistant coach tbh, him and Ime just seem to have that kind of relationship. He might be injured, but we might arguably still get the most important thing Fred actually brings to the team. That's why I don't think they'd even remotely ask him to waive his no trade clause, I don't think trading him has crossed their minds at all.

Achilles but........ May till now almost October ....5-6 months ....Tatum is 27...

Probably another 3 months to get close to where he was.

Yet Tatum already said he might not come back in 5 or 6 months.....
