Reed will be fine, he's just a bit undersized and will make a lot of young player mistakes since the PG role is very difficult to play. He has a whole bunch of lengthy players who are playing defense next to him. Amen, Jabari, KD will all help a lot from the weak side. I hope Ime just loosens his leash on Reed a bit and allow him to make the mistakes without benching him immediately. Also, Reed better play every pre-season game because he needs all the practice he can get against other teams. Seriously, don't just rest him after like 2 games and call it done, he really needs the reps with our other players, even bench players playing next to him will build a lot of chemistry. Asides from Reed, we should explore having Amen and Sengun getting playmaking touches again. I'm against Amen full time handling the ball because his energy could be used a lot better on the defensive end.. he is so destructive if he's allowed to exert his energy on that end. We all saw how good Sengun looked in the Eurocup but his efficiency around the rim still concerns me. I see a lot of people saying it was he was doubled a lot but imo he just missed a lot of open bunnies for whatever reason last year. Yea, I hope KD will open the floor a bit as well to let him operate. Everything aside, I'm actually more worried about KD staying healthy and what happens when he needs to "load manage" b2b games. Without KD or Fred or Dillon now, we're going to be desperate for shooting. Maybe when KD rests, Ime can run the double big lineup and let Reed/Jabari chuck up a bunch of 3s?
There is no time in believe anything, just execute, execute, execute and we will live with the Results!!
With FVV out, there is a decent chance KD cannot be load managed that much.....well that went out the window fast! KD, Sengoon, Amen all asked to shoulder the passing load.
Quoting Iko: "I think it’s still pretty raw in their minds. I talked to them the other day, and they said, 'Look, this is the bed that we made. If we’re going into the season, these are the guys we’re going to battle with.'" I'm not holding my breath expecting a roster move.
If Reed’s field goal and 3pt percentage's go up at least 2 to 3% and he puts up 5-7 more shoots per game we will be good.
From the time of his first start to the end of his season he shot 50% from 3 on 4 attempts per game. I think with regular minutes he'd probably end up in the 40-42% range from 3
I am afraid Reed is is a year away from being a year away. I hope the coaches are right to see something I'm not seeing.
Everyone seems to keep the training wheels on Reed when it comes to playing. He is a #3 overall pick going into year 2. If he can't play at least average with Amen/KD/Sengun then we really have a problem.
With KD on the floor, Reed will get a ton of good looks. I expect him to develop very well this season.
Reed played fantastic against OKC in a game down the stretch last year. I think the Rockets having to fast forward this process may turn out better than expected.
I don't think Fred would decline the PO. We've done him right. He'll get paid and become an expiring next year.
He was an ok selection at 3rd in that draft, but it was a very weak one. It’s like a 10th selection in a normal draft
