are they that good? every score i see they blowout everyone so far, or they just play nothing but sorry teams so far?
That team really looks scary now. Nash is running them well...another team that's improved in the west just like us the Jazz and the Nuggets. Even with Shaq leaving it seems like our conference has gotten tougher.
I think the Suns are for real. They are my pick for a surpise team this year. I can promise you, nobody wants to play the Suns. So athletic, fast and high scoring. They will be a problem for most teams. On the other hand, they will have problems if they can't push the tempo of the game. They play with SM on PF, and will have big problems against the Spers for example.
The Nuggets are not gonna make playoffs this year. Suns and jazz are playing like I expected. It's interesting to see how we face them. It will be interesting to see how Suns do when they play some real competition. Atlanta, Philly, and R. Jefferson without Kidd are too easy for any good teams.
They've looked impressive but haven't exactly been facing the best teams in the league. They play a fun, exciting brand of basketball but I'm not sure how far that will get them. Steve Nash IS the best point guard in basketball - that is clear to me now. I'de be interested to see how they matchup against Garnett, Duncan, or Yaowithballs. Things will be tough for them once the game slows down, especially since McGrady has eaten up Marion in the past. Utah has looked damn impressive thus far. I really don't know what to make of that. Orlando is a team that is very fun to watch. Howard is a man and Grant Hill is looking good at point forward. Steve and Cat are very entertaining to watch when you don't have a stake in the game. They play hard and have been pushing the tempo. However, it's amazing that I still have any hair left on my head after 5 years of them - they're still turning the ball over at alarming rates and making the same mistakes. I really hope the anti-McGrady camp out of Orlando doesn't try to spin something when the Magic wins 40+ this year. Francis and Mobley have been great, but Hill, Garrity, and Howard were not on the team last year or injured and they have thus far been huge peices of the puzzle. Garrity in particular is very underrated. I think with a healthy Garrity and Hill, and rookie Howard, TMac could have won 45+ in the East.
I thought Dallas were fools for giving up Nash and that Nash was a fool for taking Phoenix's offer. Early indications are that I was dead wrong! Nash is the perfect point for Amare and Marion: He does all the hard work. Those two just have to get in position quick and be ready for the pass, which is what they're both good at. They still don't exactly have a Yao-stopper, but it should be fun to watch them play the Rockets because Nash is the type of guy to wreck Cholly Ward and Amare always brings it strong against Yao on offense (he's willing to get blocked 4 or 5 times to get two or three dunks). I still don't see the Suns as being too great of a defensive team, but you can't dismiss those point discrepancies. Wow. I'm not sure how we'll do against Dallas this year, either. Hopefully they'll let Dampier try to guard Yao by himself, because Dirk will no doubt get his going against Mo. Without Nash, though, I'd say we have a better chance of dragging the Mavs into our tempo than we've had for a couple years now.
Why??? Nash wasn't that fast. Now the Mavs have Devin Harris and Jason Terry two of the quickest players in the NBA. I haven't seen any signs of the Mavericks slowing down.
Controlling tempo has nothing to do with how fast you are. John Stockton wasn't exactly the fastest player in the NBA in his late 30's but still could control the tempo of the game.
Didn't mean to imply Nash was quicker, just better at running an offense... then again, they haven't been doing too badly so far...
This phoenix team reminds me of the Nets team of the past few years, they can all get out and run. he only thing is , they have guys taht can make jumpshots in a halfcourt game. Theyhavent gone on a long scoring slump yet in any game.
So far the Suns have played a very small run'n'gun lineup. And so far it has worked! But it just can't make you a dominant team - you need some size to be a dominant team in this league --> look at Seattle over the last few years, they looked great in patches, but then asolutely woeful at other times! Phoenix has a great guard lineup with Nash, Q Richardson, Joe Johnson, but with Marion playing power forward and Stoudemire playing centre, they look a little undersized in the 'bigs' department! How will they handle the teams who have a dominant big man? I'm guessing they'll have to play an adjusted lineup, which is no good for consistency, and no good for their offense (taking out a guard and putting in a centre).
Yeah, but Dallas and Utah's offenses are completely different. When John Stockton was in his late 30's he could not run the offense that Dallas is running now. One of the posters implied that Dallas would not be able to go at the same tempo as last year (run and gun). I merely stated that with Jason Terry and Devin Harris at point guard, there is no reason to believe that they cannot sustain the same tempo that Dallas had when Nash was running point
phoenix has been playing well but they've played the hawks, philly and richard jefferson not exactly the 3 teams in the nba that would give me problems sleeping the night before the game
1. they played crap teams 2. yes they're like the nets, but the first nets run had van horn, who is a better shooter and a better zonebuster (cause hes tall) than all those clowns on the suns right now 3. no half court game season is still younG remember BDiDdy busted out last season like he was gonna be the MVP then started missing 3's like he was being stabbed while taking those ? =\ =\
I didn't say that at all. I just said it could be easier for the Rockets to take the Mavericks out of their game without Nash. Not because they miss Nash's speed, but because they miss his skill.
Let me be first to say that the suns are an 8th seed at best. They are not better than the Jazz and they are not better than the Nuggets. They remind me of the Sonics a few years back who started the season like gang busters and then didn't make the playoffs. The suns are overrated and until they beat a team like the spurs, piston, or the twolves, I'm not going to lose any sleep worrying about them.
