I know everyone is angry right now. I just think the guys ran out of gas.

This has been a historic season for injuries on our team. It's incredible they have done as well as they have.

If they can get people healthy and lined up for next season, there is a lot to be excited about...

    Pena
    Altuve
    Alvarez
    Correa
    Paredes
    Walker
    Diaz
    Smith
    Meyers

    That's a great lineup.

    Brown
    Javier
    Arrighetti
    Garcia
    Ullola

With: France, Alexander, Walter, Mccullers, Wesneski, Blanco, Blubaugh, and Gordon mixing in...

We'll have an opportunity to reload. I think we still go into next year as clear favorites for the division.

Imagine if Cal missed the time Yordan did. The Mariners would be below .500 with that alone.

Did they ever say what’s up with Spencer?
I know Garcia isn’t coming back next year.
The lineup will crush next year if they’re healthy (minus Walker).

Agreed under the condition that they replace Espada and figure out a way to keep pitchers healthy.

They ran out of major league players. It is as simple as that. The only thing they really need to do this off-season is find a TOR pitcher to replace Framber. It be nice to unload Walker and move Paredes to first, but they may need him for 2b.

Eh, not really that good of a lineup if Walker, Diaz and Smith have seasons like they did this year. Smith really fell off.

Brown and Javier may be the only knowns as far as starters next season, there is an enormous void of starters next season due to the rash of major injuries this season. I do not expect Arrighetti, Garcia, Walter, Blanco, or Wesneski to factor into next season at all. It's possible Blanco and Wesneski make it back in the second half of next season, but a pitcher coming back from TJ is never fully themselves until their first full season post-recovery.

And you can count on at least a couple of other pitchers going down next year too.

I can agree with the sentiment, definitely still disappointed at the lack of consistency and many guys playing under there career averages this season, (Framber, Diaz, Walker) the biggest disappointments. However we’ll won nearly every division title the last decade and this year seems to be extra cursed with injuries. The golden years of the AL running through Houston are probably over, but this is still a very good roster that can compete with anyone when healthy. We’re closer to contending than considering a rebuild

Team is playing **** baseball. Nothing to be happy about. Yes the injuries... but it feels like the plate discipline and lack of focus on defense/base running is very unlike the Astros of old.

They overachieved for a while, and I give them credit for that, but something happened and it fell apart. I blame Framber and Christian Walker, but it's more than that. The injuries obviously are the biggest issue. It just feels like it wasn't meant to be this year.

Some freakin spoiled drama queens in here. Pretty unrealistic that this run would go on forever, no?

It's a lot to ask for the team to be able to overcome that many injuries. It's the opposite of 2022...and they still have a chance to make the playoffs, extending the 4th longest streak in MLB history (current Dodgers will tie the Braves for the longest at 14 seasons this year).

I'd like to see a new hitting coach.

Whatever their approach is now needs to change.

While I agree with this in a vacuum, when you are specifically talking about this team=

2 months ago they were 18 games over .500 and baseball reference gave them over a 98% chance of making the playoffs and 89% to win the division.

Sure they have had more injuries and, arguably, more impactful injuries than any other team, but they weren't starting even - they had a huge head start - maybe 40 yards in a 100 yard dash- and could not stay ahead despite adding at the deadline.

(Tangent: Brown had a terrible trade deadline. Sanchez and Urias have not helped and Correa was another Crane addition, not Brown.)

They have still had enough healthy talent to at least play 500 ball in that time. Just doing that and we are not having this discussion.

    Framber has been awful
    Walker has been awful
Altuve has taken a big step down
    Diaz has been disappointing.

    Injuries can not excuse that.

I’m proud of how hard the team fought despite all of the injuries, but there certainly are questions for next year. Walker really scares me. I kept waiting for him to turn things around in a -big- way, but it just never clicked. He improved, but not in a “needs to bat 4th-5th” type way. We have to have power. The lack of the big inning has killed this team.

My biggest worry is Smith. In a perfect world we wouldn’t have had to start him right off the bat. I’m wondering how he’ll do next year.

My point was going into the season if you knew the starting rotation leaving spring would pitch about 50% of the starts and the lineup would miss about 40% of the season on average; most people would take where we are at.

    Those are the actual numbers.

Framber, Hunter, Arrighetti, Blanco, and Wesneski: 50.6% of starts (if not making more).

Diaz, Walker, Rogers, Pena, Paredes, Altuve, Meyers, Smith, and Yordan: 986 games so far, just over 60%...

Did y'alls dads tell you about last night when they fought over which one got to have their sphincter obliterated by me? How about when I ended up obliterating the both of them?

You might want to think about establishing a closer relationship with your families while you still have time - while they are most certainly getting looser, they aren't getting any younger.
