Just knew the rangers sweep was too good to be true.... This is the same result after the dodger sweep. Smokes and mirrors.... RIP to the 2025 season.
We have mailed it in.... there is nothing that will wake this team up now. No enthusiasm ...no one in the dugout showing leadership. We didn't show up AGAIN.
Check our Walks as a team and Stolen Bases as a team. And I cant believe this team almost had the best record in AL. Hinch is about to get his again.
to me, the entire season was smoke and mirrors. as soon as Yordan went down, i knew this team was running on borrowed time. similarly last year where when tucker went down, they were just so bland altuve is no longer that superstar. next season for altuve is gonna be even more apparent and his age.
You know it's bad when your postgame people are saying you didn't show up...3 hits..go out with some class and dignity, my goodness.
Why do I get the feeling they are going to win the next three games to give us hope and then lay an egg in the last two to miss the playoffs by one game?
all the other teams in this division need to do was to spend money. aka rangers. too bad the rangers also ran into injuries bug. mariners came out as a default winner because their moves at the deadline worked and their players stepped up. Cal with MVP season. Julio with MVP 2nd half since all-star break.
since beginning of August, the pitching staff need to either go perfect or 1 run game majority of the time in order for this team to have a chance. that and the team never really got a real closer once hader went down. that make things even more difficult. this offense gives me rockets missing 27 straight threes vibe.
It's not the losing that bothers me, but the seemingly complete lack of fight or enthusiasm from this team. Runs like the one this team has had for nearly a decade now come to end at some point. I understand that. I also understand that unreal amount of injuries this team has suffered all season makes it pretty damn impressive the Astros are even in the playoff hunt at this point of the season. What is unacceptable to me is the complete lack of fight. If they lose, they lose, that's baseball. But this team seems to barely have a pulse. I hope figure something out before tomorrow and go on a shock 5-0 run to end the season, but if tonight (and this past weekend) are any indication, I think we know the odds of the Astros getting those 4-5 wins this need for a realistic playoff shot are likely not happening.
Astros still control their destiny as weird as it seems. Worst case scenario: Detroit wins next two against Cleveland and then wins 2 out of three against Boston for 89 wins. Boston wins next two against Toronto and takes one against Detroit for 89 wins. Cleveland loses next two to Detroit and then sweeps Texas for 88 wins. Astros must go 5-0 in that scenario. Best scenario: Cleveland sweeps Detroit but loses three to Texas for 87 wins. Detroit loses out for 85 wins. Boston loses 2 to Toronto and sweeps Detroit for 89 wins. Astros are in by going 2-3. scenario 3 more likely: Detroit and Cleveland split 2. Boston and Toronto split 2. Boston 2 of 3 against Detroit. Cleveland 2 of 3 against Texas. Boston 89 wins, Cleveland 88 wins, Detroit 87 wins. Astros must go 4-1. Cleveland sweeping Detroit gives the Astros more outs as does Toronto sweeping the next two against Boston.
Yup, even before tonight 5 wins was enough to get in given how Detroit plays both Cleveland and Boston. Four even works unless a scenario plays out like you said. The bad part is that at this rate, I think we will be lucky to see the Astros win 1 or 2 of the final 5 games given how they are playing.
Damn... Astros really are on a collision course with notorious history. The same Detroit team that had no problem sweeping us not too long ago, now can't win a game. Sounds about right. This all sounds about right after Yordan's "step" injury... a f**king STEP -- and Framber going full-asylum for 2 months. Five more chances to either sink or swin.
The run ended with the collapse against the Rangers in 2023 playoffs. Team lost its confidence ever since and understandably because that was an embarrassing way to lose.
30 days ago, I was positive the Astros had turned the corner and I was hyped for what we "could do", 30 days ago I was hoping we had a SB caliber FB team, 30 days ago I was hyped that our Rockets would be the #1 seed in the WEST...........................Today I wake up to see my Astros have basically given up, the Texans are a circus and the Rockets cant catch a break...................this is what it's like to be a fan of every Houston franchise. .......Its pain
I appreciate the optimism from the fans who are saying, now they just have to win five or go 4-1, man let this team die. There’s nothing here that says that anything is gonna change. Like previous posters - something legit changed during that series against Texas in 2023 and it hasn’t gone away, only gotten worse. Crane will have no choice but to shake this team up to its core. We need fresh perspectives from outside folks. Something it inspire these guys to wanna play again or it’s time to blow it all up. It’s sucks but something has to give.
I hate both of them but cal deserves the mvp. Take him away from the mariners and they would be ass. Take judge away from the Yankees and they would just buy another mvp caliber player.
