[SHAMS] Fred VanVleet - Torn ACL - Out for the season

The season is not lost by any means, but Fred's absence is gonna make things harder, that's for sure.

 

I've heard Reed is a good shooter.

Was trading him and Green worth the bet on FVV and KD health? Havent even stepped on the court and FVV is done. Cam could've been that spark off the bench or starting backcourt with Amen

 

Ime wouldn't have let Cam play no matter what...and trading Jalen was a net positive just being rid of him.

No Sheppard, and I’d consider it. I’d rather see if the Celtics or Pacers might move Pritchard, White, Nembhard or McConnell since this is a transition season for them because of injuries to Tatum and Halliburton.

 

So, this is bad news. But it doesn’t ruin the season at all. It could make it harder to truly contend for a championship, but here is the glass half full outlook:

The timeline just got moved up on Reeds development. We are going to see if he can actually do it. There is a scenario where he starts and plays well with the starters and actually learns how to run a team.

The same can be said for finding out if Amen can be a primary ball handler. Time line moved up, and we are gonna find out.

So, at the end of the day, the injury might have taken a little bit off this team’s ceiling this year, but it is going to provide us with a hell if a lot more clarity moving forward.

If we are being honest, I’m not sure how realistic the championship aspirations were for this year’s team anyway.

 

I said last season that I wanted Brooks, Jalen, and FVV gone, didn't think I'd get it, but here we are.

IMO this is a good outcome. Ime can't play FVV 40 minutes a game now.

 

10 wins does feel like a huge stretch. So I went and checked his last season stats. He literally added 4 wins (the VORP * 2.7 formula bball ref is using). Nowhere near 10.

 

The Astros have been on the downturn for years now so that isnt a surprise and the Texans are the Texans.

Only the FVV thing is truly shocking.

 

According to the rules, in this situation, we can use the disabled player exception to get another player. This ish just got real.

 

Still hard capped, so even if we got the exception, we couldn't use it.
