Crap , I was waiting to see if he can become a productive player off the bench ….. but our starting pg ???!!!!
I will be Amen starts and Reed backs up.......still this is why you don't give away 21 year old talented guards like Whitmore for free.....and we still have Holiday. DD
Whether he starts or not, he's going to be playing 20-30 mins a game. There will be ups and downs, but I believe by the end of the season the team will be better with Reed getting extra playing time. I'm excited to get the Rockets underway, it's hard to take the Astros and Texans anymore. Go Rockets!!!
Barring a trade, I think they'll roll with a Sheppard/Amen backcourt with Holiday as the backup guard. Okogie will probably get some time. A ten man rotation of: Sheppard / Holiday Amen / Okogie KD / Tari Bari / DFS Sengun / Adams or CC But yes, it would be fantastic if we had Cam right now.
I think thats a very good possibility... I also wouldnt rule out disrupting things as little as possible and just starting Reed. I mean, if youre wanting as little pressure on him to get him some experience, the starting lineup is the best way to make that happen. With KD, Amen and Sengun his burden will be lower. And they could always sub him early and bring him back in with the bench unit as well. But again, not saying Amen starting would be bad or unlikely.
I'm not sure how Cam helps over Okogie. Cam would still be behind Durant, Tari, DFS, JSJ, and Tate for forward minutes. Okogie may be in the rotation now.
Yeah, meant to put Okogie in my post. Updated to include him. I still think it would be nice to have Cam. Four playable guards is pretty thin.
With Cam, it would be 3 playable guards as the Rockets only added Okogie as they had a spot after trading Cam.
As a backup maybe. Any chance the Clippers completely implode because of this Kawhi **** and Beard asks out so we can get him back for a package of...*checks notes*...**** we've ran out of people we want to trade who are worth anything. Fred was maybe the one guy we couldn't actually afford to lose.
No he is not but he has to be now. Everyone was concerned that we were lacking guard depth but Stone insisted on getting another center in case Adams goes down. Little did he know FVV would be the one going down right before the season starts. Fred is probably devastated but hopefully he can do sideline coaching for Reed.
He excelled last year every time he was given a real chance. He will likely have a bad game here and there as he adjust to being a full time starter but by the end of the season I expect him to lock up the starting PG role for the next decade plus. Fred will be a highly paid backup next season.
I think because of the 1st apron rules, we don't have the cap space to sign another player...the vet minimum is around $2-3M...we'll have to make a trade. Only players I would trade is Jeff Green and J. Tate - maybe another contender need some wing depth could be a good trade partner for us: Jeff Green/Tate (couple 2nd round picks) for Keon Ellis - then, the Kings can figure a way to create a package to get Kuminga for that's their focus. Maybe, the Nuggets would want Jeff Green back to free up $3M to sign another ball-handler...wondering if KD and Westbrook could make amends so they can make a title run here in Houston???
While I hate the injury, I will admit I'm actually more intrigued by the Rockets regular season games now because presumably Reed will be playing major minutes. And we can finally see if he's a keeper or not. Of course even as I say this, in the back of my mind I can see Ime just playing Amen and Holiday at PG instead.
