A lot of the D&D could use this tbh

what a great day for employers

I'm offering my employees menstrual leave — because thinking periods don't affect your work is outdated
The story behind Tori Dunlap's menstrual leave policy.

Periods are a part of life for many, but talking about them — and the challenges of working while pushing through painful cramps and energy-sucking fatigue — remains largely taboo. In a 2023 UVA Health study, 45.2% of women using the Flo app reported needing to take time off due to period symptoms, but most felt they lacked workplace support to address these concerns.

Tori Dunlap, founder of Her First $100K, wants to change that. In a recent LinkedIn post, Dunlap shared her company’s new policy offering menstrual leave, stating that it’s the “human” thing to do.

“Periods can be painful, exhausting and debilitating. Pretending they don’t affect work is outdated,” Dunlap wrote “We build policies around reality, not stigma.”

It utterly kicks my wife’s ass 1-2 days a month. I have zero problem with a day or two off for it.

That said, men also have a cycle based on testosterone peaks, daily you’re better in the morning with diminishing testosterone throughout the day and studies have shown that men have a ‘monthly’ cycle where testosterone peaks and wanes.

It’s a good argument for a shorter work day.

But let’s address the real inequity: tf do women get away with wearing tank tops?

Gotta play through pain. No different than sports. You can't just work on days you feel great. The world doesn't work that way, sweetheart.

    GOOD DAY

Can we offer husbands cocktails after hours on those days too?

I mean it seems only fair...

Most of you woke shiitheads in here are on menstrual leave every day. When your leader is Tampon Tim, what do ya expect?

How does this affect anyone outside of her company?

    Scheduled meetings?
    Emergency situations?
    Taco Tuesday dates?
The Barista at Starbs who already has her pumpkin spiced latte qued up?

You know who needs a menstruation week off?
The Texans and the Astros. Both of those teams are bleeding? I mean heavy flow Ultra maxi pad level stuff.

Then, as many of the posters in this thread like to believe, let the market decide if this policy is good or not. Her individual actions as a business owner do not matter to society writ large.

    Agreed.
From what I have experienced I would never want to be in the cubicle next to my wife at work on a heavy flow day.

On a completely different note. If you are a female playing tennis at Wimbledon. The only variance you get from wearing white knickers is if you are menstruating. Something to keep an eye on next year.

I will ask one question though?
When women were fighting for equal rights was this on any bingo cards.

So they're admitting now that they can't do work as well as a man?

Well Kaz Matsui took plenty of time off from the Astros when he had heavy flow days.
Only difference was his was from his anus.

I guess the thing is it is only a portion of women who are even experiencing menstrual symptoms. The prepubescent aren't working, but post-menopausal women and women on birth control aren't having these symptoms. Among the remaining women, only some of those have symptoms strong enough that it gets in the way of work. It is not that I oppose accommodation, but you can probably manage that with sick leave and/or individual negotiation. 'Menstrual leave' is just some grandstanding. And grandstanding that strikes me as counterproductive.
