You wrote the following, no? “…a more reptile like lizard/snake creature.” Hard to misunderstand that.
Just ask yourself the question, would you be hung up in this thread if he joined the Heat or the Spurs? That is my amount of interest in this, just forkin hate his beta shifty mentality, that is all. 2-3 yrs of geriatric presence.....I can stomach that.
Agreed, I didn’t (and still don’t) want old man Durant but the price was so cheap we unfortunately had to take it. Hoping it’s just for two years.
The thing about franchise players is you build your franchise around them I don't think you can build your franchise around a 37yo basketball player you just acquired. He's a rental, not a fixture of our long-term plans.
Maybe it's better said that "KD is the Rocket's Franchise Defining Player" If this chapter goes well we might be remembering our 3rd (and 4th) championship as being the "KD championship". The championship that set the stage for Alpi or Amen's MVP season and 4th (or 5th) championship . Not unlike when we sometimes define the second one by Drexler joining the team. He wasn't the "Franchise Player" but he did define that chapter.
I think whether or not he's a rental depends on how well it goes. If we win a chip, I could see him sticking around to chase more until he retires. If it goes like his other stints recently then yeah probably a rental for sure. I think he's the best player but not the "franchise player" as you say though. For me the franchise guy is the centrepiece of your team for a prolonged period of time. Beard was our last franchise player in truth, I think Alpi could well be the next one. Amen may end up being a more overall impactful player, but I still think you need to be the offensive focus to be the franchise, and I see Alpi becoming that way more than Amen if I'm honest.
I'm not sure he will be the best player on the team. That said, I think the Rockets made moves that fit around having KD (DFS, FVV for 2 years, Capela). I expect KD for at least 3 seasons. A little worried if it is longer.
