Alonzo Tredwell allowed two hits, walked two, and struck out nine over four scoreless innings for Corpus.

With that, Tredwell has pitched exactly 100 innings this season. Not only that, he also made it through an entire season without going on the IL.

Trey Dombroski allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out five over four scoreless innings for Corpus.

At this point, Dombroski is who he is: a durable innings-eater who will need a good-to-great start to 2026 to get in the conversation for an MLB look. His walk rate ballooning to 4 BB/9 is a concern for a guy who was known for his command coming into pro ball. But overall, I think he had a solid 2025 and should start next year in Sugar Land.

In his final appearance for 2025, Miguel Ullola allowed three runs on three hits, walked three, and struck out four in five innings in the first game of a doubleheader for Sugar Land.

Ullola has topped 100 innings for a second straight season, so I think he's capable of handling a starter's workload. But how much of a leash is left if his command/control doesn't progress from poor to even fringe? He issued the same amount of walks as he did last year, but in 19 fewer innings.

Since 2006, only 10 pitchers age 22 or younger have posted a k/9 >12 and bb/9 <4 in AAA (min 30 ip) across ALL MLB orgs:

Boone Logan (13 big league seasons)
Tommy Hanson (5; injuries, mental issues)
    Yovani Gallardo (12)
    Clay Buchholz (13)
    Matt Moore (14)
    Roansy Contreras (5, so far)
    Shane Baz (4, so far)
    Ethan Pecko
    Grayson Rodriguez (2, so far)
Bubba Chandler (currently a rookie, MLB Top 10 prospect)

That’s pretty high prospect cotton, but a mixed bag in terms of big league production. Still, every single one of those guys had (or is on track to have) a very lengthy major league career. Pecko is probably an extremely underrated prospect.

There are probably only 5-6 organizations who have a better group of 5 pitching prospects than Ullola, Pecko, Tredwell, Brito, and Mayer.

My expected 2026 opening day top 5 pitching prospects.
    1 Anderson Brito
    2 Ethan Pecko
    3 Alonzo Tredwell
    4 Bryce Mayer
    5 Ryan Forcucci

The rest of my top ten include.
    6 Parker Smith
    7 Gabel Pentecost
    8 DJ Newman
    9 Jose Fleury
    10 Jackson Nezuh

Ullola opens the season in the late innings in the pen.

Same here. Can't wait to see that guy pitch next year. I think he can be better than all those guys.

Pitchers Trey Dombroski and Tyler Guilfoil were promoted to AAA to finish out the season. Dombroski posted 20k against 3 bb in AA in September. Guilfoil provided 9k against 3bb this month. Both guys are Rule 5 eligible and on the fringes of consideration to be added to the 40 man roster.

Luis Rodriguez is another great pitcher.

    Pitches like Luis Castillo, sidearm.

Oh wait, this is the last series of the year for Sugar Land.

I don't think I like the staggered start/end dates for the minors.

Looked at Joey Mancini and Tyler Guilfoil’s savant game logs for their AAA debuts, neither guy looks that great. Both guys sit 90-92 with their 4S that they try to throw at the top of the zone. Mancini seems to do a good job of generating poor contact with his 4S. I’m not that excited about either of them but as with any Astros pitching prospect you never know. For now I don’t expect either of them to be added to the 40 man and I think they’ll both safely pass thru the Rule 5 draft.
