I'm talking about the blantant corruption of Trump. Its just hilarious how the dumbest people on clutchfans @Os Trigonum pretended to care about this 5 million dollar "bribe" (turned out to be a lie) that was made to Biden as the world's biggest story ever but somehow dont care when Trump is selling our national security for billions.

The most corrupt admin in any developed country. More corrupt than any other Latin American governments

Let's conveniently forget the GOP controlled Senate during 2020 who authorized everything from PPP forgivable loans to the enhanced unemployment along with stimulus checks.

Shouldn't surprise me, you usually always frame your arguments around "Dems bad" to "I'm not MAGA but"...

Disgusted ex-Democrats registering Republican after Charlie Kirk murder:’Evil is walking amongst us’

    https://nypost.com/2025/09/16/us-ne...-republican-after-charlie-kirk-assassination/

    excerpt:

The Republican Party is seeing a “Charlie Kirk effect,” with moderate Democrats and Independents switching party affiliation at breakneck speed.

Freshly emancipated former Dems told The Post they were horrified by the assassination of the 31-year-old podcaster last week — who they thought of as kind and reasonable — and further disgusted by the ghoulish celebration of his killing by many lefties.

A New Democratic Think Tank Wants to Curb the Influence of Liberal Groups
Led by a former aide to Senator Harry Reid, the Searchlight Institute is hoping to persuade Democrats to play down causes like climate change and L.G.B.T.Q. rights to appeal to more voters

    https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/17/...ytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare

    excerpt:

As Democrats search for their way out of the political wilderness, a new think tank, introduced on Wednesday, has some ideas about where the party went wrong.

Among them: too much emphasis on issues like climate change and L.G.B.T.Q. rights, and far too much deference to the powerful liberal organizations championing those causes at the expense, some argue, of appealing to voters in battleground states.

The think tank, the Searchlight Institute, was started by Adam Jentleson, a veteran Democratic operative. He knows that his effort, intended to minimize the sway that left-leaning groups have over candidates before what is expected to be a crowded 2028 presidential primary, will infuriate almost everyone — activists, organizations and the party’s liberal base, which is urging Democrats to fight President Trump.

“The folks who are most to blame about Trump are the ones who pushed Democrats to take indefensible positions,” Mr. Jentleson said in an interview Tuesday, citing a series of positions Kamala Harris took in 2019 before walking back many of them once she became the Democratic presidential nominee in 2024.

“Right now we’re pursuing every tactic imaginable except for the obvious one, which is taking positions that are more in line with the people we are trying to win over,” he added.

    ***
In an interview, Mr. Jentleson specifically attacked the American Civil Liberties Union, the nonprofit civil rights organization that encourages Democratic presidential candidates answer its wide-ranging questionnaires that press candidates to commit to adopt their agendas. The A.C.L.U., he asserted, “did more to contribute to Trump’s victory than many conservative groups.”

He also criticized the Center for American Progress, the leading Democratic think tank, as “100 percent pure uncut resistance drivel.” Organizations focused on climate change, gun control and L.G.B.T.Q. rights have all managed to get Democratic presidential hopefuls on the record taking far-left positions to the detriment of their general election performance, Mr. Jentleson added.

Mr. Jentleson’s assessments of longstanding progressive organizations landed as expected with their targets.

on edit: it's pretty telling that the NYT has a specific category curating articles on the Democratic Party's troubles

On the inflation issue - I really believe most of that was due to all the "free money" handed out as a result of Covid.

It happened under both Biden & Trump .... consumer spending went way up as a result and the value of the dollar plunged.

Don't ask me how the situation could have been better handled, the other option was doing nothing leading to people going hungry, rent / mortgages going unpaid, that would have been catastrophic .... Such a large scale economic shutdown over an extended period of time, without relief was the nuclear option ....

But the vast influx of dollars not earned in the course of business did exactly what anyone with a basic understanding of economics could have predicted - deflated the value of the dollar & caused rapid inflation.

Also, the historically low interest rates at that time pretty much stuck a fork in the near term future of the real estate sector - people have 2-3% fixed rate loans for a 30 year term - they can't sell those properties and take on a 6%plus rate in its place.
That's just a terrible financial decision .... that low rate becomes a money printing machine as a rental property.

Shout out Adam Jentleson. I highly recommend his book Kill Switch on the history of the filibuster and its modern abuses.
