Following yesterday’s photo release, the official first trailer has arrived for the Jack Black and Paul Rudd-led “Anaconda”.

Whereas the 1997 original was a creature feature with comedy elements, this reimagining is first and foremost a comedy with creature feature elements.

Black and Rudd star as Doug and Griff, two lifelong friends who have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favorite movie – the cinematic classic “Anaconda”.

The pair decide to do it, going to South America to shoot the film indie style with friends in two. But things get real when an actual giant anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a deadly situation.

The movie they’re dying to make? It might just get them killed. Also starring are Selton Mello as Santiago Braga, Daniela Melchior as Ana Almeida, Thandiwe Newton as Claire Simons, Steve Zahn as Kenny Trent, and Ione Skye as Malie McCallister.

Tom Gormican (“The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent”) directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Kevin Etten, while Brad Fuller and Andrew Form produce.

Sony Pictures will release the new “Anaconda” in cinemas on Christmas Day.

Should be funny . Two of my fave classics from back in the day…”Empire of the Ants” and is it “Spiders” starring William Shatner.

I was conditioned in my youth.

Every time i see the word anaconda, I immediately ask myself it's got buns, hun in order to determine whether it wants some.

I really loved the original. Ice Cube was stellar, and the director / writers decided to have stupid Eric Stoltz* be in a coma most of the movie, LOL.

    * so righteously un-famous as to have spellcheck doubt him.
