Well went with my wife to watch the final Downton Abbey ever - and it was worth it. Pretty much wrapped up the life of Earl Grantham and Lady Grantham. Lots of fan service, a bit of intrigue and it neatly tied up many of the life stories. This may be one of the best series ever on Television and the movies are worth seeing too. I will say that Maggie Smith was missed.....but the tribute at the end......well.....tissues are required for any big fan. 4 out of 5 stars. DD
I never watched the show. But, my parents were into it before they passed. I feel like I have an obligation to watch the finale or something for them. But, would I be lost? The only thing I know about this show is one of the extend family members died in the Titanic sinking. Otherwise, I don't know jack!
I would give season 1 a try, it is only 9 episodes I think, and see if you get caught in it....yes, you can see the movie, but it won't have as much meaning as if you have gone through all the characters and their journeys. DD
I watched the movie version some time ago......it is alright, a time piece. Also would recommend - All Creatures Great and Small.
This is their 3rd movie, the first one the King came to Downton, the 2nd one was when Maggie passed away and they inherited a French Villa - this is the 3rd and final movie. DD
