The depth of disappointment is linked to the height of offseason expectations. The Texans promoted all the hype, and then they came out and stink it up. I understand the fan's frustration.

Can someone volunteer to tell B-Bob when the season officially decays to hate watching this team? I will stand by.

Rams were the 2nd best team in the NFC last year, record doesn't matter as they were the only team to scare the Eagles at all in the postseason.

The Bears played the Vikings that now have a trash QB so they are not the same team as last year. Guarantee they are not sniffing their record from last year. The Lions lost some guys but they should be pretty good still.

Bears 0-2, Jets 0-2, Titans 0-2. Falcons 1-1. Only the Falcons faced the division winners. The Bucs have not lost in the 1st 2 weeks in 5 years.

They lose to Jacksonville, and the gloves are off.

They are going to lose in Jax. The Prince will ball out like he always does against us. Then he’ll turn into a pumpkin the next week.

They need to approach that game like a must win. Similar to the 2023 game at Jax.

We were suppose to be on the level of the Bills, Lions, Ravens, etc this year. Watching the other teams... I just don't see the Texans even close to their ability. It's the same old fcking Texans, no matter how many OC changes.

If they lose to the Jags...Caley should be fire because I just know its due to the offense. Dont even mess around and waste time.

So basicallty your entire original post is irrelevant. The basic facts were wrong, and the argument of "the Texans are in good company with teams like the Chiefs" now becomes "the Texans are in good company with excellent teams like the Bears, Jets, and Titans!"

I guess my concern is that the attention to details seems to be getting worse. Team is sloppy, unorganized, letting little things beat them. Starts with Meco, extends to CJ. They both need to step up. Leaders need to step up or this team is going to waste this year. However…
even when the Texans are bad, they win in Jacksonville. So this week could be a reset. But if they did lose we’d be right with the Dolphins as just bad

(raises hand) I'll give it a try...

Do you remember 2011? Arguably the best team in franchise history. Well, they opened that season against two bad teams and ran them off the field. First big test of new DC Wade Phillips came in week 3 in New Orleans: they lost, 40-33. Sky fell, fans moved to Dallas, etc., etc., etc. After six weeks, they were 3-3 and had lost 3 of 4.

And then, in week 7, EVERYTHING clicked. They didn't just win 7 in a row - they were annihilating teams. 41-7, 30-12, 37-9... Of course, it was the 37-9 win in Tampa when Schaub got hurt. But my point is, it took a minute for the defense to get their **** together.

It's REALLY hard to tear these two games away from much of what we saw in 2024. This doesn't look new or different, and, as a result, Caley is trying to fix something under what could be a very unfair shadow. But, as we saw with Phillips (and I'm by no means suggesting Caley is Wade Phillips), new systems and new coaches don't fix things overnight.

    (Did that help?)

I'm old enough to still remember the Oilers Bills game and obviously have followed the Texans since their inception. I really don't get why anyone would still get mad at the Texans losing. It's been over 20 years and I can remember only one year where I had real hope for the Texans, at least before Schaub went down and we were done. The Texans can go 0-16 and Stroud can look like David Carr's rookie year and I still wouldn't be mad.

I'm pretty sure Lawrence/Jags will have 3 TO's in this game including one in the red zone. With Texans defensive score and/or some short fields to help Stroud, and basically no chance the Jags win.

I remember that loss to the Saints. Nobody thought the sky was falling. Everyone thought we got robbed.

    Otherwise, pretty good recap.

I felt like this season was bound to go this way with such drastic changes on the line.... a slow build up to something resembling an offense.

The kicker is we have to not bury ourselves in the meantime.

Losing is fine. **** happens. Young team. Etc.

Losing games you should have won (not by the odds, but by the opportunities presented in game) against fairly average opponents is not fine. That's how you miss the playoffs.
