You know - I have never really gotten to really watch McGrady play during his Toronto/Orlando years because I really only watched the Rockets. Then when we got McGrady, I was told we got a bust a "ME" player - someone who only cares about himself and doesn't care about his teammates. Well I finally got to watch the game tonight vs. Sacramento - and I am sitting there and watching passes McGrady is making which he could have taken himself - I mean he was right at the basket but yet he chose to pass it. I was thinking to myself - damn this guy is REALLY bringing his teammates in this game. He is totally unselfish. Now don't get me wrong - I love Francis - but how OFTEN would you see Francis do something like this. I mean McGrady was heaven he got EVERYONE involved and made sure everyone was playing and making things happen. I really do have to give McGrady a BIG hand here! I am impressed and am glad we have him signed for the long run. Personally if he keeps playing like this - I'd take him over Kobe anyday!
TMac is basically a smart player and has high BB IQ. Francis, on the other hand, just couldn't do it even if he tried.
I agree, but 1 thing i havent liked in Tracy is him not diving for basketballs...Did it twice today, where he kidna just jogged after the ball and someone else dove it and got it ( a king). But thats my only complaint, other than that, thumbs up.
Absolutely correct. T-Mac wanted to leave Magic, part of the reason was that he didn't want to put all the load on his back (for his back isn't that good) But he's smart, if everyone gets better, he wil be better, and the team will be better.
TMac idolizes and patterned his game after Penny Hardaway. Kinda like a combination of George Gervin and Magic. Even his lackluster defense is a reflection of Penny. Hopefully JVG can change that part of his game, but his offensive part is perfect.
Our offense is so much smoother when TMac is in the game. He can basically create a shot for himself or his teammates whenever he wants. I love Steve, but you have to see that Tracy 's abilities are just a level above Francis'. This guy is a true superstar and there are only a handful of superstars in this league.
more salsa to the tmac wagon... watching him play, i see one of the most intelligent players and one of the most physically gifted players. I seriously believe that the world moves in slow motion for him, even defensively, for example, when the opponent was sprinting down the court, tmac caught up with him, faked a attempt to steal on the right and came back around the left to get the ball. It was an incredibly quick steal but he plays under complete control, as opposed to francis who would play very hard, but sometimes overexerting himself (resulting in a lot of gambles). Between him and kobe, tmac is a smarter player, more athletic (although the injury is always a factor), a better team player, and much more under control. I think the only thing that kobe has over him, is competitiveness, but now that Tmac has a better team, i'm a lot happier that such a great player actually has an opportunity to make something with his skills and has a desire to do so. Its good to be a rockets fan.
Ummm, I really don't care to see T-Mac break his wrist or have his head snapped back (remember the Griffin and Fisher head to head collision on the floor?) because of diving for a lose ball.
When was the last time a player broke his wrist diving for a loose ball? I cant recall any injuries from diving in the past year. AK-47 is 6'9 he dives. Lets get real. I mean i think hes great.. But there were key posessions he didnt dive. It wasnt like they were up 20.
Mac played great and so did Yao - in the end it's all about Mac and Yao contributing. More wins are on the way!!!
But I do have to agree - TMAC and Yao are NOT 100% comfortable playing with each other... But I do think in time, they will be a force to reckon with. I was laughing throughout the game because everytime TMAC touched the ball he had 2 people on him, when Yao touched the ball he had 2-3 people on him. Such a command they both bring to the team. I really do think this is going to be a GOOD season providing everyone stays healthy.
