Juwan Howard and Maurice Taylor are basically the same player. They can play some offense, but their defense is pretty bad. Their defensive scheme is to react late when their man moves and foul. If we want to compete against San Antonio or Minnesota and their dominant power forwards, we'll need a mobile power forward of our own who can play some defense. If we don't get a lineup change, we have no shot at beating those 2 teams. Any ideas on some possible trades that we can make this season?
I prefer Taylor. He has a good offensive game. The Rockets have ran the offensive through him at times at it has been effective. Taylor does put forth effort on defense which can be seen by the way he takes offensive fouls. His shot-blocking and ability to stay with his man needs to improve, however.
they're not the same player. there was a thread about this earlier and it was slightly in favor of MoT. I still feel that MoT is an upgrade over Jhow.
Whichever way the wind blows... Whichever ONE has a good game, that will be the ONE that people want to stay. You watch...heh. No seriously. It could be that JVG wants to keep both, or none. They give us a good duo for now because they complement each others games; one outside shooter, the other a little tougher inside. The best situation would be to trade BOTH of them for a better PF. If we do trade ONE, it will be for some type of specialist: defender, shot blocker, or sharp shooting 3. Maybe even a "Bruce Bowen" defender type.
They are NOT close to the same from what I saw last night. JHow makes boki look confident. JHow cringes every time he looks at the basket. It's painful for me. Cato couldn't gaurd much, but boy was he missed by me last night. atleast he could look aggressive.
It's good to have 2 guys that play a position in 2 different ways. it's a real bonus for us. think about it this way. If you have T-Mac and yao on their games and don't need a scorer but need a banger you bring in Howard. However if someone is off on their offensive game you do have Taylor to bring in and give you a spark of scoring. Each one has it's own strengths and weaknesses and having the abililty to use both whenever the time comes is a good commoditity to have.
Not a banger like Anthony Mason but compared to Mo Taylor he is a real banger. I guess i was comparing him more to Taylor then the rest of the league... Kind of compare and contrasting their styles.

I don't see why everyone is jumping on the MoT.. i mean, his bandwagon isn't that big to start with. Juwon was a fair contributor during his Dallas days.. and I've got faith that he's got to establish his role on the team, get more comfortable before that player comes out of the current shell.. We haven't seen the MoT that we'd like after his injury.. ain't the same ever since. For the long term, we'd still need to be looking for a more consistent and reliable starter
Mo Taylor was on the bench last year. Now he's a starter. That says something. Juwan has been in a shell since Webber called that timeout.
