To add, Ataman's triumph celebration after big games is raising two fists and shaking them. Its iconic and annoying at the same time for some. Also he loves to take timeouts after the game is sealed as a win in big matches, especially opponent fans, players, coaches etc taunted him. It can be translated into "i own that ass timeout" God, so annoying. I'm happy I never had to root against him.
Ataman just said that Cedi's injury is serious. If he is not 100 percent, someone needs to step up. Ideally it would be Korkmaz but I don't expect him to. But it is Ataman after all. Maybe he is spreading misinformation to confuse Spanoulis.
No connection.dervis is of Persian origin, meaning poor, in need. Became a word for followers of a religious sect, as someone who is in need of allah. devşirme means collecting, used for collection of young boys from conquered lands in the Ottoman Empire, to be educated and raised for ranks in the army and state. Today the same word is used foreign players typically from Turkic Asian states, like ilyasova or from Turkish minorities in balkans, like Hido who choose to make a career in Turkey from a young age. As an extension I think players like Larkin are also called devşirme, though it is slightly different.
Yeah, Wizard is not going to catch on and it's already been used, most notably by Walt Williams. Plus, there's a whole team of them. Along those lines, Sorcerer would be better and lends itself to some alliteration with Sengun but still seems forced. Perhaps Prophet because he sees the future? Whiz is too close to Wizard. Virtuoso has too many syllables--needs to be three or shorter. Other than being a critic, I've got nothing. Surely, though, there has to be a cool Turkish word for judge, as Alpi is constantly handing out punishments.
I like sorcerer for the alliteration. How about warlock? More intimidating I think, and I like the idea of him "absorbing" power from the basketball when he talks to it. The Warlock with another triple double!!
Why should Alpi's nickname be tied to his ethnicity? While I sort of like "the Dish," I think I like "the Spin" better. It's like Hakeem said, "everything starts with spin." Alpi has that special trait, and he might be the best rebounder at his size since Moses Malone. He's very hard to block out. Why? The spin. Alpi also may be a more natural passer than the Dream ever was. He puts his own spin on the game, and now that he's adding range and the Eurostep with a dunk on the end? Look out league, Alpren "the spin" is coming for you.
Is it not too girly sounding though? I don't know if it's because (as somebody who eats way more of it than I should) I picture it being pink/rose flavoured because that's the one I tend to eat most haha.
Tari naming it definitely does not make it any less trash lol wtf? Are you scared of not agreeing with athletes you support or something? Haha
