What a martyr! Hopefully KD will be our martyr and settle for something similar.

I like FVV, he brought a certain level of professionalism to the team. Especially considering that Fred went undrafted and earned everything he has gotten in the NBA; the man has made an allstar level career by defying the percentages.

I remember hearing James Harden’s high school coach talk about him; they all knew he was a good player, but even he didn’t know that there was NBA MVP level in him.

Both guys have earned where they are.

However there is a difference, Harden does things his way and rightfully so, his style works for the most part. Harden at his peak wasn’t just a star player, he delved into playing GM too - and he isn’t a very good GM (but he had the power to wield his whimsical fancies).

Fred Vanvleet plays his role and doesn’t step on the coaches or management’s toes with his GM lobbying. He might not be as talented as Harden, but he has his foot on the throttle the whole game.

Harden is still one of my favorite players. And I would have really liked to have seen him back with the Rockets, but it was apparent that Harden was still playing GM; and next thing is he become discontent with personalities and they get shipped off or he moaps.

The best part of Fred Vanvleet is that he has been willing to teach the young guys on the Rockets. And with Reed Sheppard playing behind Fred, that is the perfect mentor.

If I were the Clippers right about now, I don’t think I would be trumpeting ‘team friendly deals’ they are getting stars to sign.
