Sengun has definitely taken it another level, Jokic takes these games more seriously than in the NBA. For Jokic its horses, then national games and then NBA which he purely just sees as a job. Very impressive work by Sengun. Not sure if he still has games remaining but prob time to start the recovery period soon before NBA season starts.
The winner of Turkey vs. Sweden will play the winner of Poland (3-2) vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina (3-2) on Tuesday/9th. The only NBA player on the other 3 teams I'm aware of is Nurkic for Bosnia. Unless something really weird happens, it appears Turkey is a lock to make the medal round.
"Wow Wow Wow!.…" "Şengün really outplayed Jokic. What a performance!" "Baby Şengün has turned into Daddy Şengün". Incredible! OK. But let’s get a bit more serious now. Şengün earned an important victory against Jokic. However, the upcoming games won’t be that easy. Why? Because in the last game, Jokic underestimated him. Yes, Jokic did not give Şengün enough respect, and he paid the price by losing the game. This doesn’t mean Jokic completely disregards him. He respects Şengün’s post-up game – as he should. Right now, there are very few players in the world who are as crafty in the post as Şengün. But Jokic didn’t respect his three-point shot. In fact, more generally, he didn’t respect his midrange game either. And Şengün punished him for it. What Jokic forgot is this: Şengün is still a kid. The problem is that kids learn fast – especially when they have a high basketball IQ like he does. Now the Türkiye-Serbia match has shown it: If you leave Şengün open for three or midrange, he can be dangerous. So teams won’t leave him open anymore. It’s a bit like his third season in the NBA. Back then, teams didn’t realize how crafty he was in the post. But once they saw it, they started double- and triple-teaming him. He struggled for quite some time, but eventually he learned how to punish those defenses. Now it’s the same with his shooting. Teams know he can hit from outside, so they won’t give him space. He will struggle again for a while. That’s why you shouldn’t expect consistent three-point shooting from him just yet. But eventually, he will add that weapon to his arsenal. It will be difficult, but he’ll get there. And we, as Turks, owe a lot of thanks to the Houston Rockets and Coach Udoka. Three years ago, Şengün was skinny, like a bag of potato chips. Now he has gained serious muscle mass. He throws opponents to the floor and is much stronger than he looks. Udoka has also improved his defensive ratings. In short, they’ve turned this kid into a monster. Watching Şengün play against European teams feels like Gulliver playing basketball against the Lilliputians.
I fire all coaching stuff if we dont make semi finals. It is like Houston will play with Washington and Charlotte
Sengun must win a medal at EuroBasket no matter what, and he most likely will. At best, he becomes the champion and takes the gold medal; at worst, he finishes third and takes the bronze, but in my opinion, he’s closer to gold. Winning a championship here is important because it will push him even further and fuel him even more for the 2026 NBA championship. That’s why both he and Turkey need to go all the way. Right now, Turkey is one of the strongest teams in the tournament and they can beat anyone. We’ll see what happens, but all of H-Town needs to support this kid here. Their next game is against Sweden, tomorrow morning at 4:00 AM. We’ll be there.
Euro's are fine but NBA teams are stronger than 99% of that Euro competition, there is truly no comparison even with so many stars in attendance......the rest of the rosters are just not that great. A lot of teams are just 1-2 NBA guys and then all worse GLeague dudes. Medals stay the utmost Prestige and Honor for the Country but we should not Overrate this and Compare it at the slightest to an NBA Playoff Run......
Anybody still up who has a link for this Turkiye-Sverige ( Sweden) game? I know it doesnt start for a while. I'm in the U.S, if that matters. I'm very Lowe Tech
I’ll try to post a link at game time that works in the us. This works now (I am in Hawaii), I will double check at game time. https://tr.canlitv.ltd/amp/trtspor-canli-hd
Unfortunately Sengun looks bad. Missed point blank post up. Passed on open three to a double teamed Larkin. Getting boxed out of the paint by no name bigs. Nice follow up on his last missed layup at least.
