Xi, Putin and Kim show united front at huge Chinese military parade 21 minutes ago Laura BickerChina correspondent , Beijing and Thomas MackintoshBBC News The leaders of China, Russia and North Korea have appeared in public together for the first time in a show of solidarity at a massive military parade in Beijing. President Xi Jinping said the world faced a choice between peace and war as China unveiled a huge arsenal of weapons - including nuclear missiles with a global reach - to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Two. The display was not just a look at where China has been, or how far it has come – it was a showcase of where the country is going. Xi played the role of a global leader prepared to stand alongside two of the most sanctioned leaders in the world: Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un. And, at the Chinese leader's feet, a military which is being built to rival the West. The parade was a choreographed spectacle of precision, power and patriotism. Thousands of soldiers paraded equipment on Wednesday, demonstrating China's military modernisation programme. But, one of the most enduring images of the parade took place before the first cannon was fired. President Xi welcomed Kim with a long handshake, then moved on to greet Putin, before all three walked together to watch the parade. This was the first time all three leaders have been seen in public together, and they really picked their moment. Later, on the sidelines, Putin and Kim met, with Putin praising Pyongyang for sending soldiers to fight in Ukraine. Putin and Kim joined 24 other dignitaries who had been invited to the Beijing parade on behalf of Xi. Former top leaders of China also stood at the Tiananmen viewing platform - but notably absent was former president Hu Jintao. South Korea's President Lee Jae Myung did get an invitation, but turned it down. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi - who met President Xi earlier this week - was also not present. Getty The parade was a choreographed spectacle of precision, power and patriotism Among the world leaders attending were Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian, Pakistan's PM Shehbaz Sharif, Vietnam's Luong Cuong and Zimbabwe's Emmerson Mnangagwa. Most Western leaders opted not to attend China's "Victory Day" parade. The two that did make the journey - Slovakia's Robert Fico and Aleksandar Vucic of Serbia - posed for photos with Putin after the main event. They all watched on as around 50,000 spectators - all vetted in advance - attended the parade in Beijing's Tiananmen Square. It was President Vladimir Putin, President Xi Jinping and North Korea's Kim Jong Un's their first public appearance together President Xi inspected thousands of soldiers from different branches of the Chinese military who had gathered on Changan Avenue. Laser weapons, robotic "wolves" and giant underwater nuclear drones were among new weapons on display. China also showed off its stealth attack drones, dubbed the "loyal wingman", as they are capable of flying alongside a manned fighter jet and aid it in its attacks. Thousands of doves and balloons were later released into the skies above Tiananmen Square to mark the end of the parade. Guests then enjoyed a lunch reception at the Great Hall of the People where they could choose between a red or white Chinese wine. President Xi gave a toast to say the world must "never return to the law of the jungle". He did not address any Western nations specifically in his five-minute speech, but Chinese officials have previously called the US a "bully" for its imposition of tariffs on countries around the world. Xi added: "We sincerely hope that all countries will draw lessons from history, value peace and work together to... create a brighter future for humanity". He concluded by toasting to "common prosperity for all humankind". Putin and Kim then held bilateral talks at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in a meeting which lasted two-and-a-half hours. The pair discussed North Korea's contribution in the Ukraine war and reflected on an agreement struck last June between the two nations. It is now estimated that up to 15,000 North Korean troops have joined Russian soldiers on the front lines in Ukraine. North Korea has also supplied Russia with ammunition. In exchange, North Korea is believed to have received money and help with weapons development. Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un hug as they both left the meeting in Beijing It was the meeting between Xi, Kim and Putin - not just the weapons and troops on show - that appears to have grabbed the attention of Donald Trump. The US president, who did not attend, took to his social media platform and accused President Xi of conspiring against the US with Russia and North Korea. "Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong Un, as you conspire against The United States of America," Trump posted on Truth Social. Kremlin spokesperson Yuri Ushakov rejected any suggestion of a conspiracy against the US, according to Russian state media. Ushakov called Trump's words "ironic" and said Putin, Xi and Kim are "not even thinking about a conspiracy against the United States" and that the three leaders understand Washington's role "in the current international situation".
Currently, the USA's military dwarfs these combined powers. But with the Trump administration we're seeing the head of our military cut off and replaced with sycophants with little or no military training. Add in the nationalistic tendencies and the withdrawal from US world leadership, both hard and soft, it's going to be an issue. If you're not watching the China-Russia-NK partnership with trepidation, you should be. It's a direct message to Trump and the USA. These guys are learning from evolving warfare in the Ukraine while we're doing our best ostrich impression. There's no way they would have the audacity to do this withe previous admins.
N Korea is not a concern. China is not interested in a kinetic war - They are doing perfectly fine with their BRI. Russia has depleted a significant amount of man power in Ukraine and has proven they can not advance outside of their borders w/out significantly escalating to all out war. The west has done a smashing successful campaign of pushing Russia and China closer together. Biden administration did a piss poor job of preventing the war and deescalating the war while the Trump administration continues to antagonize China in all the right spots. Kinetic warfare works best in 3rd world countries who have no defense. Proxy wars in 3rd world countries will be the strategy for the foreseeable future. Ultimately, while the west continues to get distracted my MSM narratives, while the real concern is in space, energy expansion, AI and other tech. When the US runs out of energy generation (not to be confused with fuel), who do you think NVidia and other chip manufactures will sell their latest and best chips to? For those who do not get it yet, we are ALREADY dealing with energy generation shortages and surpluses of AI chips are building up slowly.
This three headed monster is probably more of a paper tiger than anything, but still shows a fundamental catastrophe on our part especially in intelligence, and statecraft. There's alot of reason why people should not trust the CIA especially, but in the past in partnership with the state department have done wonders to keep these bad actors in their respective corners, and in an adversarial position instead of allies. The fact is though that even with North Korean troops, and supplies/artillery from Iran/NK, Russia has barely managed to take but a small chunk of Ukraine who has only had artillery and intelligence support from the West/NATO. The real threat they pose is cyber, and economic disruption. Even on economics, China is tied to the West in many ways. Far more than they are reliant on Russia for much of anything. So I think this is just all for show. Especially Putin and Kim Jung who are just opportunistic to LOOK way stronger than they really are. Xi is powerful yes, but don't forget that as much as he presents himself as an adversary to the US and the West, he's not stupid enough to destroy his economy by cutting off all ties to the West by doing anything really stupid like sinking a US navy vessel or bombing a US base in Japan. In the end these are all just corrupt self interested clowns like Trump. Some more menacing than others (IE Putin), but in the end these guys are just there to look and feel tough when really they are vein, greedy, insecure aggrieved clowns, with daddy issues.
Those three joining hands isn't really unexpected but Trump somehow ****ing up the US-India relationship and forcing India to start normalizing relations with China is just ridiculous. It took decades to get the Indians to trust the US (as the Indians were historically aligned with the Soviets). And better for us, the Indians were a nice natural ally in the region to balance against China. And in one fell swoop, Trump effed it all up and now the Indians are back to aligning with eastern bloc countries. Even here in Canada, there's growing pressure to start rolling back tariffs against China that were implemented on behalf of the US during the Biden and first Trump admin. The whole world just seems to be pivoting away from US influence.
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Or just say F it, beat your chest, and fight anybody that looks at you funny cause you are the biggest guy in the bar. What could go wrong? China and Russia are playing the long game, cause they can. They always have. Trump won't even be alive when the repercussions unfold.
Autocrat-led governments joining hands... is that really anything new? What would actually be new is if, somehow, these autocrat-led governments managed to convince some democratic-leaning governments to join them. Or if a super powerful democratic government mistreated or pushed around a weaker democratic government so badly that it felt forced to switch sides and join the autocrats' camp. ongoing and to be seen
meanwhile, at the economic front, India, China And Russia Forge New Economic Alliances, leading to more TACO Stance In the face of Trump's 50% tariff on Indian goods, the partnership between China, Russia and India seems to be growing stronger by the day. These three nations have moved closer to each other as a response to what they perceive as unfair / whimsical economic bullying from the Trump India has historically maintained close economic ties with the United States, but Trump’s tariff policies have prompted a shift in strategy. The recent rise in cooperation with China and Russia signifies India’s intent to reduce its dependency on the United States.
and over the next few years they will find alternate trade partners because we cannot be trusted, decades of goodwill gone in 7 months SMH, we are the laughingstock right now. The funny part will be is if SCOTUS strikes down the tariffs and they have to rescind them............we will have made an ass of ourselves, and they will still look for long term solutions Jobs Down MFG Down Prices up All this winning really sucks
Trump is doing his best to make sure the dollar is no longer the world currency. Then Russia and China wins.
No, there was no threat to the currency until this administration. The US dollar was very strong until this year.
