Trump encouraged the protestors to be peaceful. That's on record. And the protestors were protesting for DEMOCRACY after the Democrats stole the election with mail-in ballots, ballot harvesting, and late night printing of ballots in Milwaukee, Detroit, Philadelphia, and Atlanta (it's why they all stopped the count at the same time based on the water main leak lie). Protesting to SAVE democracy.

Nope, quite the opposite. The admin let high-end AI chips, once banned for national security reasons, be sold to China in return for 15% of the sales.

The new political-economic system being pushed is basically a mix of state capitalism, cronyism, and political authoritarianism.

The gov is no longer just regulating companies. It is starting to own parts of them. In the past, this only happened in rare cases like during wars, the Great Depression, or major recessions. If this spreads beyond companies like Intel, AMD, and Nvidia in normal times, the gov stops being a referee and becomes a player in the game, competing with the very companies it oversees.

Then there is clear favoritism. The gov now sets up rules like tariffs, but not every company has to follow them. Businesses with the right political ties, or those that play along with the admin's agenda, get special treatment. Apple, for example, avoided tariffs that others had to pay. That is not a level playing field, it is a rigged one. It was already rigged, but now it is coming directly from the POTUS.

And the gov has also been pressuring companies to control what they say. If a company speaks out in a way the admin dislikes, it risks punishment. If it stays in line, it gets rewarded. That is intimidation, not free speech.

It's a mixture of the system in Europe + China (after it shift more into capitalism)

I don’t have a problem with the US buying shares in companies, but where are the details, how long are we holding, who is deciding when/if we sell, where will the dividends go? Where will the post sell money/profits go?

The last times we bought shares of companies was post 08 crisis / 2020 COVID crisis, it was through bills that were voted on correct? Why didn’t this purchase have to be tied into a bill?

The action itself isn’t alarming but the intent and process/order is everything here, and it is a bit shocking the people are fine being left in the dark on such a significant transaction.

Investigations and recounts were done in many states, many by Republicans. No significant fraud was found. Trump and his idiot followers were the only ones trying to change a free and fair election. Remember Trumps fake elector scheme? You people have no shame.

trump is copying Mao who coined his economic folly (gov confisticating private properties and means of production)
    The Great Leap Forward.

For Americans, it'd be a great leap backward!

Huge pressure not to overturn a Presidential election... and huge time pressure, making a full investigation impossible...

Question for you: Do you believe Joe Biden, a bad candidate who barely campaigned, got 81 million votes in 2020? 6 million votes more than any Democrat candidate ever? And ~12 million more than Barack Obama ever received? His vote count is an inexplicable outlier... stats don't lie, amigo.

What do you expect from the most transparent US fed gov ever in history?

I believe the last time (before this time) was during the great recession. GM and others... and I believe it took an act of Congress.

I posted about this particuar stake in Intel here before the deal was made. No one seems to care anymore that it's not normal and it's probably illegal.

To the OP: A government grant in exchange for a share in a large company isn’t a bailout, it’s an investment. That’s smarter government in my book, since we can directly measure the impact through the investment’s yield. More importantly, this falls under Congress’s responsibility, with the executive branch carrying out what Congress authorizes (and sometimes with leeway). It’s not supposed to be a unilateral "investment" power of the executive. That kind of arrangement would invite abuse and corruption.

What the admin is proposing here doesn’t fit the original structure of the CHIPS Act, which was meant to grant companies funding to start fabs on U.S. soil. They can go back to Congress to modify it, but they cannot simply cut a deal with Intel.

(Yes, they will simply cut a deal)

Aw, you mean to tell me Joe Biden and the Dems committed this massive, obvious nationwide fraud and your lord and savior couldn’t come up with any proof and not a single court victory? It’s almost like Trump made up this big lie and knew you were dumb enough to believe it.

Huh? The USA isn't "buying" into their corporations. They're selling out American interests for a quick buck. Biden had banned high end AI chips to be exported to China and Trump reversed that decision allowing high end chips to be sold for a share of the profit. Nothing about this is good for america long term.

Lmao at sending gateway pundit links. The website that's been sued for lying is your source. You people are sincerely too hilarious.

Biden was such a bad canidate in 2020 that Elon musk and Bill ackman both hard-core MAGA voted for him in 2020. MAGATs are so delusional about the truth

Unfortunately the Republicans have check mate on us. They have F'ed up the government so badly, that either they have all they power and do stupid **** like they are now, or they have made government so toxic, that no one will ever want to government to be involved in anything again including healthcare.

But do you want the Republicans to control your healthcare decisions? Medicare for all means the government can dictate what vaccines/medications they would cover? You have confidence in this corrupt government to look after your healthcare?

As F'ed as this has gotten, it's still better than United health care and the amount of money we spend to get it. We need to fix everything about healthcare in this country. How drugs are funded, how medical schools are run, how everything is funded, how the FDA approves drugs. There are inefficiencies everywhere.

I think he's referring to the purchase of stakes in Intel. So, both buying into corporations and allowing sales to go through for a share of the profit are taking place.

Incidentally, the Trump administration just declared that it would stop allowing South Korea to use U.S. semiconductor manufacturing equipment for their chip plants in China. A lot of pundits believe that the U.S. will allow its usage if Korea agrees to pay them more for it.

So it could end up being another way to collect a share of the profit from the global economy.

The money intel is getting came through congressionally approved funds. If congress wanted the admin to take a stake in exchange for equity they could've written the law like that but they didn't. Congress authorized the funds as a grant and only as a grant.

I dont think MAGA realize the precedent this is setting. Who makes the determination if something is, "national security" or not? Is climate change national security? Can president Newsom demand equity in SpaceX for national security? Can he take equity in first solar or another large renewable company? How about a oil & gas firm? How about energy utilities?

I dont think the right or liberterians understand the Pandora box they've opened @Space Ghost @StupidMoniker

the money came from the mismanaged CHIPs act fund.
To be clear, i believe the Intel deal is bad because the government is run by mediocre politicans who mismanage literally everything they touch. The last thing we need is these idiots holding interest in private companies. Its not communism. Its not socialism. Its pure incompetence. Democrats and Republicans. They are all ****.
