Germany is a top 2 team in this tournament. Montenegro lacks guard play. We always had subpar guard play, but now it's amplified by our best guards not playing. So we only got Vuc and Simonovic basically.

    Alpi needs a lob threat.

It was total domination. Alpi is the ROCKETS franchise player.

Great game. This is what an international team with an all star is supposed to look like.

Also lmao at Latvia who acted like they are the clear favourites befor the game.

Alternate history - instead of starting Bruno Fernando over Sengun, what if Silas discovered the double big lineup and we ran Fernando as the lob threat for Sengun? Really makes u think.

Meh. Should have easily had the triple double

But seriously, my favorite was the little battles vs Porzi. They weren't holding back on being physical against each other.
Luke Kormet wasn't there to bail out Porzingis.

Latvia was supposed to do some things on paper before the tournie.

While you make a good point on the "half a point per game" thing, the reason I am so focused on it is because I think all shooting is connected. If you look back throughout NBA history and you look at the guys who can shoot, learn how to shoot, or add shooting to their games, nearly every single one of them was a good free throw shooter. That's the foundation, in my opinion, you're either a shooter or you're not. On one end of the spectrum you've got Clint capela or Dwight Howard, no amount of practice would make those guys shooters. You either have it or you don't, and they simply didn't have it. Infinite reps, infinite shooting coaches, those guys still are never going to be good at free throws, midrange, or 3 pointers.

On the other hand you can look at the bigs who are great at this stuff. Easiest example is Brook Lopez, who shot no 3s through his first 8 seasons, but was a strong 80% free throw shooter. That's a signal that he is a good shooter, that he "has it" as I put it earlier. And as soon as he started shooting high volume threes, he was great at it. Another example I like to use is Kevin Garnett, he shot over 80% on free throws for most of his prime and even had a few seasons over 85%. Unsurprisingly, he was also a great mid range shooter. And you can bet your ass if he played in the modern NBA he would've been a great 3 point shooter. I'm sure of it.

So back to Sengun, to me, the free throw percentage is an indicator that it's even possible to add the other shooting components to his game. It's about a lot more than the 0.5 ppg that it would add. If he continues to shoot ~68% on free throws, to me, that means he is never adding the mid range or the 3 point shot. It's just not happening, because Sengun just doesn't have it in him. But if he can improve his free throw percentage up to the high 70s, or even up to 80%, then I've got a high level of confidence that he's got what it takes to add shooting from elsewhere on the floor, either midrange or 3s.

Jalen Green shot 80% or better from FT this one year but I have no confidence in him ever being better than his 34-35%----maybe couple of outlier years.

I am sure that he practiced FT shooting ardently under Ben Sullivan........

If A implies B that does not mean B implies A. Nowhere in my post did I say that good free throw shooting guarantees you will be a good shooter elsewhere on the court. Which is why I said "the free throw percentage is an indicator that it's even possible to add the other shooting components to his game".

First off, I don't believe that is true - I think he is an older player who is just finding himself battling normal age related injuries and performance declines for a guy who was never an elite athlete anyway so loss of speed/athleticism has a much bigger impact on him because he didnt have much to lose to stay competitive.

Secondly, if what you are saying IS true - those are some HUGE red flags if we need to tell Fred when to take his commitment to basketball seriously. Like I said, I don't think Fred is like that but if he is, nothing about that theory gives me any confidence he will be significantly better this year after a few good playoff games.

Dirk was 35 when Larkin played with him, and it’s still an outrageous claim lol

    A.I fans? synthetics?

Man, how ya gonna dew Porzi like that and frame the question that way. true though, unbeatabol. Unless you grab his jersey with your left hand and hold him down with the right hand, all while accidentally stepping on his shoe heel before the spin like Draymond.

yeah start with the basics be an above average dependable FT shooter first. 3 pointer will come. Same applies with Amen.
