Ethan Frey hit his first home run as a pro. He's in center field and in the leadoff spot for Fayetteville tonight.
3/4 tonight. That's quite enough of him playing minor league baseball. He had a steal yesterday. GTFO with this ****.
Unbelievable they are letting him do stupid stuff like stealing bases. What is wrong with these guys. Idiotic.
Trevor Austin is still a non-prospect but he’s definitely raised his stock this season, as he’s been a solid above average hitter in AA (wRC+ 109). He’s clearly a pretty low ceiling player, but he may also have a high enough floor to be a big league bench player. He can play 5 positions and hit. But he doesn’t hit HR and doesn’t have speed.
This is the conundrum. Do we care more about stuff or results during rehab assignments? On the other hand, Garcia has had some poor results, but his stuff seems like it’s doing fine, more strikeouts than IP.
My response was about France, as the post I was responding to was. Then that poster threw in a little nugget about Garcia to go with it.
Lucky. He was very useful and the team really needed him. But he was successful DESPITE his stuff not because if it.
None of this is wrong but what about this years team makes you think they’re in need of competent pitching less than in 2023?
The DSL Blue team made the playoffs and they are 1-1 in pool play. The Dominican Summer League is using a new playoff format in which the top 16 teams advance. The teams are then assigned to one of four pools using a serpentine seeding system. (1 seed to Pool A, 2 to B, 3 to C, 4 to D, then 5 goes to D) For more info on the new format, refer to this article. The Blue team qualified as one of the last wild cards and got the #15 seed. They are in Pool B with the Padres' Gold team, the Royals' Ventura team, and the D-Backs' Red team. They lost to the Padres yesterday and beat the Royals 10-1 today. Kevin Alvarez went 3-5 with an RBI double and a run scored.
