Pedro Leon is starting another rehab assignment in AAA tonight. Interesting timing as he will now have to be activated by 9/19.

Wow, Alonzo Tredwell logged 10 strikeouts in 4 innings tonight, 0 bb, 1 er. Amazing start for him so far in AA: 11ip, 20k, 4bb, 3er.

Length makes up for a lack of velocity - but they think he isn’t a Chris Young clone, that he can and will add a few ticks or more if he stays healthy.

I know they drafted him as the high upside guy to counterbalance all the older college arms. Odd thing is the Astros seemed unconcerned and very calm with him even when he struggled - surprising because he was a high pick.

He has had a very positive season and a strong finish this season and he won’t be far from the big leagues - amazing considering where he was at less than a year ago.

Looks like he hit an absolute tank, too.

He's gotta be the strangest 27 year old prospect -- if you can still call him that. I still like him for his power/speed combo plus defensive versatility.

There are only 6 prospects in the system with a k rate <20% in full season ball (min 100 pa)

    IF Alberto Hernandez
    1B Wes Clarke
    IF Jeron Williams
    C Garret Guillemette
    OF/2B Yamal Encarnacion
    C/UT Jancel Villarroel

Is that abnormal compared to other systems? Or is this just 21st century baseball?

Agreed. Snake needs a project, so I say he looks at the "top 5" and "bottom 5" systems in baseball and gives us a comparison.

I don’t think it’s normal. I did a quick spot check of all the other AL west teams and they all had more. The Mariners and A’s and Rangers had 2-3 times as many players with low k rates. I think the Astros have placed a heavy emphasis on power and speed over contact and defense.

I was doing some projections yesterday and spent some time thinking about our catching prospects. That may be our strongest position going into the off season. That represents one helluva turn around over about three years.

Yes, Bush, Villarroel, and Guillemette all raised their stock this season. That coupled with Janek maintaining his stock and adding Mitchell has that position looking really well stocked.

I would really like to see Ullola have a great season in Arizona this Fall.

Given the arm troubles the Astros team has endured this season, I would not. Let the man rest.

There is 0% chance Ullola is put into the fall league.

I wish Ullola and/or Santa would be on the Astros in the next few weeks.

Santa got utterly destroyed in the AAA game today.

I think Ullola could help the team but it’s too late to establish him as a SP this season. I’m mildly surprised they haven’t called him up to get a taste of the big leagues and mop up some of these low leverage innings.

Too bad about Santa. He had turned it around the last few outings after a tough first one. Looking at the summary, he only faced three guys, all got hits but only one was hit hard. Obviously still not ideal.

Parker Smith went six innings and allowed two runs on four hits and struck out nine in the first game of Fayetteville's doubleheader.

Luis Baez has turned his season around with a scorching hot August in AA. So far this month he’s hitting .444/.531/.556 which is a 1087 ops.
