Or you could look at the bright side and see that it opened the way for McCormick to be the closer. Oh wait, that is the same cranky dark side.
M’s losing again. Rangers are losing again. In Joe’s defense, I’m not sure anyone could win with what’s left of this team. Sanchez batting 4th. I couldn’t do it. Look how far they’ve fallen.
The Astros not making the playoffs is more likely than not. Too many injuries. Too many AAAA level players. Joe Espada.
Yep. We are not putting a competitive lineup out there. Cam needs to sit. He’s not the only problem but he needs to not be in the lineup at all for a while. Keep Arrighetti away from the rotation too. Who else is gonna pitch instead? It doesn’t matter. Arrighetti looked absolutely putrid tonight. Everything he threw was a meatball. Absolute trash performance by him. Don’t tell me he pitched well last time out with his 5 walks.
Exactly. I haven't felt truly good about this team since then. Every loss is 100-0 now. It's absolutely ridiculous.
I’m sure he wishes that he had - but I’m not going to be overly harsh on him. They tried for the top arms available and at one point sounded like they would get Rasmussen from Rays or Alcantara from Marlins and at the deadline they were talking to the Padres for Cease until the clock ended. Brown was trying to add one from early in the season. I am sure if he could - he would go back and over pay for Kelly or a reliever. If I have any criticism of Brown it is that he didn’t beat Espada with a tire rod for how he handled Hader.
I place the large majority of the blame on the offense. It was a bad offense in the first half. It's a bad offense in the second half. The ONLY reason we're here [in first] is the pitching and it's absurd to expect them to hold it up forever. But that's been the story of the Astros 10 year run. How often have we had an elite offense? It's usually been the bats disappointing us.
Won’t the Astros make the playoffs by being the tallest midget? The Astros might be able to hold off the Mariners for first but are absolutely going to get rocked in the wild card round. What’s sad is we made some good moves at the deadline - Correa and Sanchez - and ahould get Yordan back. Not sure which pitchers are coming back (don’t follow the team that well). Any case bury them the Astros aren’t surviving Detroit and Baltimore on the road.
New hitting coaches? New conditioning program? New medical staff? New manager? New GM? I am sure that ownership is asking all these questions.
That's not close to being true but you can make yourself a lot of money by betting that the Astros won't make the playoffs.
