FVV really is the leader of the team, probably even now with KD. As much as he frustrates me at times, especially last season, I'm glad he's our PG tbh.
This should be the lightest load he's ever had with us in terms of scoring and playmaking, assuming they are pushing toward Amen spending more time as the primary ballhandler and giving Reed some consistent minutes. Even if some of his box score counting stats decline, I would love to see him post career bests on FG%, 3P%, and turnover rate (per 36 minutes), and I think all of those are very possible. He's only 31, a lot of guys do still post peak-level (or nearly) seasons at that age. See: Norman Powell last season.
Yeah I definitely expect his efficiency to improve now he's not being asked to spin sugar out of **** on the perimeter. I'm so pumped for next season, this summer is lasting too long already lol.
Jordan: "You could be a point guard." Jackson: (sounding like the gayest man on earth) "What's a point guard?"
I am on the high side for FVV, but I think FG%, 3PT%, and turnover rate are going to be high bars for career bests. FG%...I expect he'll shoot a lot more threes than twos this coming season than he did earlier in his career. On three point percentage, I expect FVV to have a good year (basically like most of last season outside of 2 slumps early in the season), but I think his volume will be so high that I don't expect him to shoot better than 41.4%. On turnover rate, it was already so low last season that it will be hard to match, but this is the likeliest of those three stats for FVV to post a career best. I think FVV will continue to set up intiial action to keep turnovers downs and to get offense organized. After that initial action, I expect FVV will just be a three-point threat. For Amen to get more on ball usage, he will likely need to fight Sengun and Durant for touches as I expect they will have the ball the most. I am very excited to see FVV thrive with better offensive players on the team to allow him to get his bread and butter shots open without having to try to create rim pressure as much.
