Orioles were trying to hand the Astros the game. It's like if a team were trying to lose, they would do what they did there in the bottom of the 12th, kind of suspicious
Infield defense matters. thanks to the Orioles for trading us their gold glove! Walk off fielders choice in the 12th is… something. That was ugly roster management and bullpen without Hader. To me, I’d try and extend guys on low pitch counts where possible. Alexander could’ve started the 7th as he was at sub 80 pitches. Ort gets you out of a crunch on 2 pitches and you don’t give him a shot? I hope we can get 6 out of Javier. We’re going to be facing constant bullpen fatigue. Side note - I think every pitcher other than Abreu today was a Dana Brown scrap heap acquisition. Pretty impressive.
Ok- yall want to know reason number 84782 why Espada is an in over his head moron? Let’s go back to the b11. guys and 1/3- no out. I think bunting is dumb but if you are going to do it do it on the 2nd pitch. on the first pitch you have to have an auto take and Pena steal. They weren’t even going to throw down fellas. If you do that then the bunt fails at least when the out is made at home plate you have Peña standing on 3B with 1 out. but no, crayon eating Espada couldn’t even figure that out. We’d have had 2 chances to score instead of just one.
What they need is LMJ, France and Garcia all up here in the next week, all pitching out of the pen and all 3 inning guys 2 times a week. 5 starters, those 3 going 3 innings 2 a week and the other 5 guys taking care of the minimal innings that would otherwise be left. brown, Framber, Javier, Arrighetti, Alexander Garcia, LMJ, France Abreu, Okert, Sousa, king, Ort Dubin- IL. Other guys DFA. Not even sure who else is out there still.
Why wouldn’t you? You get the free base so he moves over to 3rd if something goes wrong (something went wrong) You think Baltimore is even going to try to throw down? No way.
It's easy to second guess these things. But, in real time there are mental hiccups and timing considerations made by the player. Sometimes, things just spiral...like a tornado.
He is. He doesn’t carry an offense by any means but he can carry his own at the bottom of a good line up and his glove is gold. Very shrewd trade and I wouldn’t mind him back starting at second next year.
J Alexander is as a reliable starting pitcher as you could ask for... dude is nails... and yes has JV vibes w/o the big leg-stretch/kick
