What he said. I love people from Naca-nowhere coming down on Huntsville because it's a small town. At least we're 50 miles away from the 4th largest city in the country. What is Naca-nowhere close to. Oh yeah, Lufkin.... I guess you'll stoop to anything when your teams gets it's ASS handed to them on their own field in front of all their buck-toothed fans. All that being said, I must say that good natured SHSU/sfa smack is a welcomed addition to this board.
Noah was red-shirted at Oklahoma. He's a junior, but has 2 years of eligibility left after this season. I think he'll shine just as much as Dustin Long does, although he won't have quite the receiving corps next year. I got into UT, chose to go to Sam. And I beg to differ about your third statement there...enrollment numbers are skyrocketing all over the state, including Sam, and I have seen a good handful of girls that are the opposite of what you say. Sam is also cheaper than the bigger schools...another reason some choose to attend.
Our "scrubby a** team" has another 1,000-yard passer (Allen) waiting to take over when our STARTING 1,000-yard passer (Long) is lost. Then you can start looking at our three-headed monster at running back (Godfrey, Smith, and Garmon). Or one of our four capable receivers, two of whom have been named Conference Player of the Week numerous times this season (Mathenia and Fuller). After that, you can start taking lessons from us here in "Hicksville" on how to spell "enjection" correctly: it's Injection, with an 'I'--as in "I'm an SFA student athlete and 'I' can't beat any of the Sam Houston student athletes at any sport." 1. So Dustin Long transferred FROM TEXAS A&M because he "couldn't get in"? 2. As was mentioned before, why would you trade a place like Houston for a dump like Lufkin as far as the closest city? So yes, I WOULD be "scared" if that were my predicament. 3. Four of the Texans Cheerleaders on this year's squad either attended SHSU in the past 2 years or are CURRENTLY ATTENDING. But they're ugly. OK. In short, you're legally r****ded. And you DESERVE to be attending SFA.
Man that sounds just like me. I got a partial scholarship to UT and a free ride to Sam. That, together with the cost of living in Austin vs. Huntsville, made my choice a no-brainer especially since I had to pay for everything myself. Yes, it's a party school but most of the people go there because they can't afford to go to a bigger school, not because they can't get into one.
Huntsville is a nice place. It's small and has it's older parts, but it sure does look nice right now...simple and small...but not too small or too far from civilization. Plus...Heaven blessed BBQ...Mt. Zion Baptist Church BBQ!
Sam won again! Beat McNeese 52-47. AND...hey SFA...what happened with Nicholls State??? 41-23??? Hahahaha! Two more wins and I'll be checking out the AA playoff schedule to see if I can work in a trip to Huntsville.
Dustin Long had 34 completions (new school record) for 577 yards (new school record) and 5 touchdowns (tied a school record) with NFL scouts a'plenty in attendence. Sure beats sitting on the bench at A&M. I was following the game via USA Today 'ticker' and I knew is was going to be a shootout when I saw the score was 21-17.....at the end of the first quarter. Turns out SHSU went ahead 52-41 with 4 minutes left in the game. MSU then scored but missed the 2-point conversion leaving the Kats up by 5 with less than 2 minutes left. MSU then recovered the onside kick and went all the way down to SHSU's 17-yard line with 57 seconds left. We ended up getting a huge interception that iced the game. I think the #2 team in the country lost yesterday, so we should move up to #3 when the polls come out today. We're now 8-1 and 3-0 in the conference. Here's the game story from the Chronicle.
You were correct...Sam is #3 and actually received a single first place vote. This week's game is going to be huge. Going on the road against another quality opponent...if Sam can pull off a big win, we might see more first place votes showing up.
