We were there straight to the beach from Arlington last Friday. Water was a beautiful greenish blue.
Crazy thing is no one was really on the beach in the Beach Pocket Park area.
Also there was very little foot traffic on the Strand except for La Kings.

I love Galveston so much. My own personal memories with friends and family. My grandparents lived there for a while at Jamaica Beach. And as a history nerd it’s just amazing…from the Red Light Maceo “Free State of Galveston” era…to the fact that pirates literally walked the Strand.

I have my favorite restaurants there….and I love when I have to cover a probate hearing in Galveston for the estate planning section of my firm so I have an excuse to have lunch at Benno’s.

A fun place to just get away from work and and crap on an easy weekend trip with my family. And everyone there is an Astros fan!

The rocky road ice cream at La King’s is just inanely great :)

Galveston needs a Casino in the worst way.

Selfishly, I hope they don’t. The things I love about Galveston would be ruined by that. But progress keeps progressing and my opinion is just mine.

Fun fact…I’m a corporate M&A attorney, but earlier in my career I tried some cases. The only case I ever tried on my own with no co-counsel was in Galveston…I represented a company out of state and the bailiff literally hugged one of the Defendants when he walked in the courtroom lol….It was just a month or so after Hurricane Ike…. We won and had Gaido’s after :) That was a good day.

To restate my earlier thesis, I love Galveston. #YouCare

I don't remember exactly where, I don't remember exactly when, but I was b/t 4-13 every summer on Jamaica Beach in some rented house for a couple of weeks.

What was the name of that one corner shop down there, maybe get gas, but you could sure get everything else?

Growing up I couldn’t stand going as a kid. My Dad was born and raised on the island so we would always go. As I’ve gotten older I’ve come to love it. It’s fun going back with my Dad, he knows the island like the back of his hand.

Always cool to hear his wild stories and places when he was a police officer there in the 70’s.

    Fresco Mart General Store.

My sister had a place on Pirates Beach and that was our go-to for any supplies* we forgot to pick up at the store. Nice to be able to just hop in the golf cart and cross the highway. Good sandwiches, good breakfast burritos too. Plus there's a liquor store right next door.

Anybody other than myself ever go flounder gigging at Christmas bay?
That place was ripe for the taking.
