Gordon can not be in the bullpen he is a batting practice pitcher at the major league level. Espada is going to have to rely heavily on his starters to go 6 or 7 innings, and then patchwork someone in the 7th if necessary. But you can't pull guys out in the 5th unless they are getting shelled....our bullpen or the longer relivers are horrible. DD
Our bullpen's era was good because our starters were going deep, once our starters faltered we fell apart, our offense wasn't good enough, ISN'T good enough, we need Meyers and Alvarez back ASAP to fully rally or I feel we will struggle to make the playoffs. DD
That "Only be a voice of reason" mode isn't always stoic rationality. It gets a bit insufferable, as though there is never, ever, ever, never ever, a reason to show a position past being "calm". It's the player's job to stay focused. It's on the fans to tell the team "This sucks, do better".
I hope this works. But I haven't seen the first example of a properly diagnosed injury working out after taking this option. At this point, the results have been either re-injury or retirement.
Bullpen last 2 games…. 8 innings 16 runs allowed. The good news…September 28th end of season. Unless they somehow make the playoffs.
Wow, that was ugly coming off one of the best wins the night before. The Red Sox IMO are the cream of the crop and they b**** slapped us last night, how will we respond? I expect the REAL Hunter Brown tonight and we can still take the series. The Hadar injury has me nervous, I hope it doesn't turn into a "typical" Astro`s injury and he`s out for a month. Flush last nights game from your memory, today is a new day
Just try and win the series. That is really all they need to do to have a positive week. They don't need to sweep teams like the Yankees and Red Sox. Just win series - settle for some splits and and minimize losing series..... The Mariners are not going to keep winning 90% of their games, and if they go on a run like the Brewers, then the Astros still make it as a Wild Card as long as they stay true to the formula.
"Somehow make the playoffs" You're acting like a Seattle fan who always expects things to go terribly wrong (because they usually do for that team). Act like Astros fan, not a Seattle fan.
Honestly all of the teams in the post season picture right now are set up to **** **** up in the 3 game wc series. All it takes is two hot pitchers
Apparently in some underground top secret government bunker where Yordan is taking batting practice and is possibly mere minutes from being able to play for the Astros.
If Hunter and Framber get hot in October, we’ll have a deep run. If they suck, we’ll be done in the wild card series. It’s really as simple as that.
You’re mostly right but offense matters too. Altuve, Walker, Correa, Diaz, Pena, and (gulp) Yordan have all shown stretches of dominant offensive production that if synced up could overcome mediocre or even bad pitching. I would actually say Melton and Smith are also capable of busting out, although that is less likely. Im still waiting to see what happens with Arrighetti and Javier. What they will look like in late September is not what they’ve looked like over the last week, one way or the other.
