However, when accounting for calendar shifts, the month would have shown a deficit of $70 billion, according to the Treasury.

The overall budget deficit for the fiscal year (through June) is $1.337 trillion, up 5% from the same period last year.

At the end of the day, tariffs will reduce the deficit, but the BBB will massively increase it. The 2 things about tariffs that MAGA conveniently ignore is that they can't both bring back American manufacturing jobs and be a massive revenue stream (it has to be one or the other) and that they are a tax on the companies in the US bringing in the products, which include raw materials needed for American manufacturers.

Robust tariff income continues to help shrink the budget deficit, while the inflation rate remains low -- only 2.7% in July. The stock market soared by another 1% today, reaching fresh all time highs. Upcoming interest rate cuts will power the economy higher, leading to more gains.

The Golden Era is upon us.

    GOOD DAY

The gourmet coffee I (used to) buy just went up from $12 to $15 a bag. It's a blend from Chiapas (Mexico). 25% tariffs, 25% raise on price for their coffee. I was willing to go along with slight price increases over the years but $15 is too g.d. much.

Then there's Brazil, who Trump's trying to extort into leniency for Bolsonaro, who lost his re-election bid and tried the same Trump stunt of staying in power. Except Brazil still has democracy (their Supreme Court isn't staffed by Federalist Society scumbag judges) so they didn't look the other way after an attempted insurrection; Bolsonaro might even get jail time.

So....50% tariff from Trump. Now beef and coffee in the U.S. going through the roof.

    GOOD DAY.

US deficit grows to $291 billion in July despite tariff revenue surge,
as well as the so-called DOGE efficiency measures

The deficit for July was up 19%, or $47 billion, from July 2024

    as for July's inflation data

This so-called core CPI figure has been rising in recent months: It climbed 3.1% in July 2025 from July 2024. That's up from a 2.9% annual pace in June and is the fastest annual rate for core CPI since February.

the core inflation data strips out energy and grocery prices, both of which dwindled a bit in July

    but, that's just too nuanced---above his head---for Traitor George ! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
