My biggest problem is with ESPN shoving it down our faces all day every day. It's worse than the Lebron love fest we used to get. (I'm sure his last season will be unbearable.) I hate trying to watch NBA Today and half the show is on WNBA. Create a women sports channel or something instead of forcing the rest of us to hear about it all the time.
I've had my time making fun of the WNBA in the past, and I still think they embarrass themselves far too often in regards to PR. However the average WNBA team is worth 250 million (I don't know how but it is) and the salary cap is 1.5, that is kind of an absurd ratio. I'm not sure what is a fair number, but certainly more than that.
They have a TV deal coming through next season. It's real money. They might turn a profit soon. I wonder how much their growth is dependent on Caitlyn Clark. She's tanking this season. What if she doesn't bounce back?
So much for the Connecticut Sun moving to Houston. After missing out on expansion, looks like it could be a long while before the Houston Comets are reborn. https://www.espn.com/wnba/story/_/i...ltics-minority-owner-buy-sun-move-team-boston
I don’t watch the WNBA, but still get Caitlin Clark shoved down my throat with as much attention as she’s getting, I assumed she was destroying the league…then I check her stats and she’s averaging a measly 17 ppg shooting 37% from the field and 29% from deep on the season…she’s also averaging 5 turnovers a game man, I was shocked…I had no idea she was this garbage
