All the usual idiots not realizing that climate change means swings both ways, we have had the hottest year on record the last 2 years, but that doesn't mean every day is hot.

Educate yourselves you look like morons.

Will China become the first electricstate instead of petrostate? Or will drill baby drill carry the day?

China’s Plateauing Fuel Use Is Without Precedent, IEA Says
    Sherry Su

Rapid uptake of alternative transport, coupled with shifts in the Asian nation’s economy, mean fuel use is close to plateauing and may already have done so. There’s may be a small drop in fuel use this year, the Paris-based adviser said.

“For China’s fuel growth trajectory to be leveling off at this early stage of development is without historical precedent,” the IEA said. “This slide is likely to accelerate over the medium-term, which would be sufficient to generate a plateau in total China oil demand this decade.”

China’s use of the three most important fuel products - gasoline, jet/kerosene and gasoil - declined slightly to 8.1 million barrels a day in 2024, the IEA said in its monthly Oil Market Report. This is just below 2021 levels and narrowly above 2019 use.

For 2025, the agency anticipates a modest gain of 210,000 barrels a day in China’s oil demand but there are signs the country’s fuel consumption “may even have passed its peak.”

A slump in the construction sector, historically a cornerstone of gasoil use, alongside persistently underwhelming consumer spending, which is closely associated with personal mobility and gasoline demand, has meant that recent economic gains appear to have been less oil intensive than in the past, according to the IEA.

New electric vehicles currently account for half of car sales, undercutting around 250,000 to 300,000 barrels a day of demand growth in 2024. The wider use of compressed and liquefied natural gas in road freight displaced around 150,000 barrels a day, the report showed.
Expansion in the provision of public transport, especially high-speed rail, has also contributed to the weakening in fuel use.

These fuel substitutions have suppressed demand growth by around 1.2 million barrels a day since 2019 and will cancel out a further 400,000 barrels a day this year, mainly due to accelerating EV penetration, the IEA said.

Nah, thanks to learning about Jevons paradox a month ago, they'll continue to import oil and burn it aoong with coal that floats over to Pac Coast despite the gains in renewables.

Time for them to bring back btc miners to fight it out with deepseek servers.:D

Trump defunded the LOE which gives loans to utility and loan businesses. The LOE gave billions in loans to save nuclear power plant when Biden was office but sure he signs some bs executive order and the dumbest losers line up behind him believing it has any teeth.

The dumbest people in the world are right wing boomers

Did you even read the article? One way they want to go faster is by lowering standards for radiation exposure. MAGA once again fighting for cancer.

Of course, you can zap all the regs you want and it's still a massively expensive undertaking to build a nuclear power plant and they will need large amounts of federal money to make it happen. Renewables are cheaper.

Take a hard look at where you live now and start making plans. You don't want to be the last one left on your street.

We can't think of climate solutions anymore. That time has gone. We're now forced to think about climate risk reduction in only the personal, since it's obvious no large governmental or societal help is on the way. That now means making long-term decisions without good data. On top of that, we get forced into decisions quicker thanks to the bad actions of our federal government. You may guess wrong or be left in a position where you can't afford (monetarily or familially) to get out of a bad spot and if so, sucks to be you.

And then there is the public health issue that come from this particular action. Once again, this administration shows they are on Team Cancer. More bits from the article:

That's so disgusting. Why lower standards for radiation exposure? The sickest part is that I have no trust in Trump covering up leaks and exposure if something goes wrong. He will flat out lie, or do nothing to those that don't follow safety precautions.

Nobody know when it will happen, but 99% of scientists have proven through data that we are in a state of global warming and climate change. What you can't dispute are the facts. Our oceans are warming, we have more rapidly intensifying hurricanes, more flash floods, more glaciers melting, more droughts, and more heat records, and some orange faced buffoon leading our country doesn't give a damn, because the fossil fuel industry butters his bread. So, you will get nothing but denial, lies, and deception from the snake oil salesman you trust. You should be embarrassed to be so damn naive.

These nuclear reactors fit on a flatbed truck. How safe are they?
The nuclear industry aims to miniaturize, looking to place hundreds of small power plants across the nation.

Gird your loins Houston. It seems the crew that wants to leave it all to business to solve because they are "more efficient" may have misread the situation. I'm sure some businesses will exploit desperate people, but solutions are only coming at the personal and governmental level, which for now, means you're on your own.

That something is getting off of fossil fuels as quickly as possible, but we are not going to do that. So, be smart and plan appropriately.
