The way I see it is that all team go on a losing streak for whatever reason, injury, team chemistry or fatique. It can also start from anywhere during the season. It just happened that we have it at the beganning of the season away from home...no big deal. I wouldn't be suprise if we lose 3 in a row and win the next 4 or 5. Remember last year where the Heat started out with an abysmal 10 game losing streak to start off their season? They turn it around in the 2nd half and ended up making the playoff and went as far as the eastern conference final. How about the slow start of the T- Wolves last year after the block buster trade, and most critics were saying "give it some time to allow Sprewell and Cassell to mesh". They finally did just that after the all-star break and almost made it to the finals. Look at our conference rival in the Grizzlies. Last year we were ahead of them by 10 games before December b/c of their slow start and after the season they were ahead of us by 5 or 6 games. How about the fast start of the Pistons, than in the 2nd half they went on a 12 game losing streak and ended up just behind the Pacers for best record in the east. Now they are world champ. C'mon guys....there are 82 freaking games in a season and thing will change! We have all the time in the world to adjust and have the players feel each other out. There's no reason to single out one player, wether its Yao, T-Mac , JVG or the guards for the Rockets poor performance as some of you are doing. Thats rediculous to say with only 2 games played. I'm disappointed with the Rockets right now but not down by any means. Patient is the key to success.
Memphis lost their home opener to WASHINGTON 103-91 The Kings lost to Dallas 107-98 & gets blown out by The Spurs 101-85. The up and coming Nuggets gets easily beaten by the Lakers and we starts the season 0-2 on the road. Those are all "playoff teams" IS TOO EARLY TO TELL!!
I wonder how many posters here are real rockets fans. Look at those ridiculous "trade yao" and "fire JVG" threads popping up everytime after Rockets lost a game. Do you honestly think any team in the NBA can go 82-0 in a season?
It would be one thing if the rockets seemed to be good at offense or defense, but right not they look horrible on offense and not great in D. THhre offensive sets and slopy and this team doesn't hustle like the team last year.
Good to finally see views from the other side.......i think we'll be just fine......panic mode is not an option!!!
Fan is just fan. You can not expect them to think rationally sometimes. The most rational people would stay away from games and live a happily or boring lives. The fans would watch the next game with great interest after posting "trade yao" or "fire jvg".
The posters that are saying “trade Yao”, like for example the poster amed, have been saying “trade Yao” far before the past two games. And the people that are saying “fire Van Gundy”, like the poster edc, have been against him since the get-go. They’re not panicking and saying these things based on the past two games. They’ve always been against them.
Sorry, I have yet to say "fire Van Gundy," and certainly not due to two losses. I have said Phil Jackson is the better guy to bring about the desired result. Anything less than that hire right now, and JVG hasn't failed enough to require a replacement by another average interim head coach. The end of the season is a separate matter.
Yet your signature says otherwise. In reality, is has nothing to do (for you) with the end of the season. It's really about NOW. The part about "fire JVG" just can't be said by you (even though some others are saying it) right now, because you know that you would have to eat your words later (playing it safe). That's why you are toeing the line right now.
I don't see the words "fire JVG" in my signature. Since Phil Jackson became available, I've said the Rockets should hire him NOW as the best man for the job. Waiting only increases the chances he will take a job somewhere else. If management cannot, or will not do that, then Van Gundy is the man here, and did well enough to stick around for this FULL season (barring a major collapse). As to "playing it safe," I've put my expectations out there. JVG needs to meet them, or I WILL be in the "fire JVG" camp the day after the season ends...
Doesn't matter. The signature still implies as much. We'll see it if you keep the signature the same if we make it to the 2nd round.
I have also said that anything less than a championship, and I will continue to believe Phil Jackson is the better man for the job. JVG needs to go deep into the second round to (IMHO) tread water.
Of course you do. Just like Brown. Bandwagon coach lover. Once they prove it, then you love them. How convenient. How about your support a coach before he wins one? That's not easy, is it? If that happens with JVG one day, you can change your signature to "I believed in JVG all along." You're the type of person that thinks If it hasn't been done before, it's impossible. Then, when it does happen, you'll change your tune that you knew it all along.
Nope, sorry. Stan Van Gundy hasn't won a championship before, and it is not "impossible" that he could win one with Miami. As to Phil Jackson, hiring the guy with the best qualifications is hardly "bandwaggoning." You want to be the President, who do you hire, a campaign manager that has won that race nine times, or one that has only ever gotten the Mayor of Palookaville elected?
You mean with Shaq? Yep...very possible. I understand that. But my post was in reference to you will not give JVG the time to try and prove it. And then, once he does. THEN, you give him the benefit of the doubt. By the way, if we got another coach. We'd still have to deal w/the same problems. Yao still is a mainstay. And as he falters, the team falters.
