Seattle is closing fast; 1.5 games out.

He topped out at 92.7- well below where he was before the surgery.

He will get there. Location more important. Prime Dotel and Pressly took a little bit of time to get into mid-season velo.

Chuckles the clown (what I called Biaggi) was part of that Sanchez trade too and part of that combined no no.

I don’t know man. In spring training, pitchers seem to work on getting arm strength back and focus on the FB without regard for results. Then introduce offspeed and fine tune command.

I would rather Garcia and Javier have the velocity in their AAA starts and then refine command. In that way, I’m actually more encouraged by Arrighetti bc he is featuring decent velocity and needs to get his location down

Pitchers in spring training are healthy though. Garcia's had a hell of a rehab so who knows how they are really treating it and what they are prioritizing. He may just fundamentally be a different pitcher now after two years of injuries, adjusting his motion, etc. But it could also be that they want his arm rebounding consistently at lower speeds and then slowly upping the velocity bit by bit.

But Spencer only had a chipped thumb, these other guys had Tommy John and may never get their Velo back, it looks like McCullers is 2mph or so slower.....

Do any of the Tommy John guys we have have their velo back?

That's why every time you or someone else has talked about how loaded our pitching staff is going to be when we get our guys back, I shake my head. It's not easy to come back to 100% from TJ and make an immediate impact. We'll be lucky if one of them is successful this season and can be counted on in the postseason (if we make it). Very possible none of them are in the mix.

We’ve got to get Walter back and thankfully looks like that might happen sooner than later with him throwing a bullpen yesterday. I’ve said this many times because you’re absolutely right here.

I’m more hopeful for Arrighetti but he’s still a question mark to a lesser extent as well. We’ve seen Walter perform at a high level just a few weeks ago. Can’t say the same for anyone on this staff outside of Framber and Brown.

I'm not gonna lie and say that this isn't a just a little unsettling, but....all they've really done is sweep the worst team in the league at home.

Plus the Astros have the tiebreaker. Can add a game to any current GB column.

this is also just about where they’ve been the last 2 years in regards to the division race… with a much more depleted squad this year.

How did we get the tiebreaker? From what I gather, we've split the series 5-5 with them so far with 3 games to go, so whoever wins the September series holds the tiebreaker, right?

Astros need to call up Cleveland to see how they got the only 2 good seasons out of De Los Santos.

    The ability is certainly there.

    That would be correct.

To think we have given away 3 games to Seattle. Two early in the season with absolutely abysmal late inning relief choices (thank you Tayler). And then the inexplicable decision to hold back Framber for what should have been a Saturday start after the ASB. That's a 7 1/2 game lead.

I think Arrighetti looked good considering he's hardly pitched this season. Lot of bad batted ball luck early that derailed him.
