Nice! Good to see SA get stuck with a likely-to-be bad contract.

    lol good luck with that

[Scotto] De'Aaron Fox's four-year, $229 million max extension with the Spurs includes no player option and no trade kicker.

That can only help us. $57 mil a year for a guard that can't shoot 3's? I love this signing!

I’m sure this was agreed to at the time of the trade, but I just don’t think Fox is worth $57 mil per. You’ve got to be an all-nba guy to be worth that. He’s a good player, but I don’t see a max player. Glad the Spurs saddled themselves with that contract. I would have focused on developing Harper and Castle instead.

Nothing to see here. Once the trade happened, this became inevitable.

That's why you don't let a stroke victim manage your finances.

    No offense Pop.

Fox is a good player. And sometimes he's very good. But at nearly 60M/yr he's now a nearly untradeable asset. Spurs better hope Fox plays at his absolute best, or else this move might come to bite them in a major way as far as team construction / flexibility goes. You see this often with young teams where they have a very clear super talent (Wemby) and then they give out albatross contracts to 2nd or 3rd banana type of guys and then it just doesn't work out and they need to rebuild around their super talent from scratch and in the process waste years of his prime.

My bad, my bad, would you let someone who had a stroke manage your money?

It wouldn’t stop me. My father had two strokes and he’s very good at managing money. He came back strong both times and you would never know he had a stroke.

One of the reasons I was totally against trading for Fox. Their team is all on Wemby’s health. Castle sucks and we don’t know what Harper is, although I think he will be good in a few years. Fox is a 35M guy not a 57m guy. They would be much better off tanking for at least one more year.
