“Kids want to get high and go hiking instead of gambling” that’s what a old timer explained to me my last bachelor party to Vegas. You can sports gamble anywhere nowadays
You can online gamble anywhere, Vegas needs to provide something different, now they are just a bloated over expensive location. Nothing exciting to do there, TBH.....and way to expensive for what you get. DD
Vegas has spent the past couple of decades trying to "provide something different" other than gambling. It sure worked for a while, I'm not sure what they can pivot to next.
Man there’s lots of people who don’t go to Vegas at all yapping about it Was there for the 4th of July , plenty of people. Yes during the week it’s going to be slow for less international visitors but there’s still plenty of international visitors for big events If people don’t want to pay for strip prices they can find good deals off strip or downtown. the palms is legit nice, great casino, pool and restaurants @Salvy @basso
Costco might not be able to hold that price for long if tariffs on imports from Brazil remain high. Many people will adjust their buying habits if Brazilian coffee beans get too expensive.
My Dunkin French Vanilla has gone up to where its noticeably different from one week to the next at HEB.....................this sheet about to get real
We did it! Millennials killed Vegas! For real though, as soon as legal gambling exploded the writing was on the wall. It's just a place for conventions and events now. That's it. Can't wait for Fox News to blame unions for Vegas' demise. Lol.
I am not a gambler, but I did like Vegas for the other things, the resort style pools, the food, people watching but now you have to pay a huge fee for the pools, the food is to dam $$$ and the Fremont experience has been done.................it now looks like the tourists who used to come from other countries are giving the USA the big middle finger........................bey hey, Vegas workers got there no tax on tips so there's that On a serious note, I have seen quite a few of these articles and I wonder how much truth is in them?
The Google says: Las Vegas visitor volume for the first quarter of 2025 was down 6.9% compared to the same period in 2024, totaling 9.7 million visitors, according to CNN. Las Vegas visitor numbers for the first quarter of 2025 have not been finalized in a single official report, but data for March 2025 shows a decline of nearly 8% compared to March 2024, with ~3.39 million visitors, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). While some casinos saw revenue increases, net income on the Las Vegas Strip dropped significantly in 2024, by 40.4%, says a report by the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Convention attendance also experienced a decrease, dropping 1.6% to 1.8 million. The way that The Mucky Mucks who run the big casino/hotels on The Strip might assume that there will be year to year business growth, which drives their long term investments. If Vegas tourism numbers, especially for The Strip, hold steady that might be a long term problem for the casinos.
The problem is that online casinos have taken over and the modern generation is all about their phones. Vegas, has shows (that only old folks go to), expensive dinners (the young can't afford), table games where you have to bet $25 per hand (too expensive for a generation that can't afford a house).....and they are no longer the only place to go with Casinos all over the world now, offering competitive experiences. Vegas should: 1. Lower prices across the board, rooms, food and the games themselves. 2. Focus on loyalty giveaways earned at a lower risk point than currently exist. 3. Provide the customer with a LUXURY user experience 4. Focus on the SOCIAL elements of being in one place Right now, they are too expensive, have failed to react to modern dynamics, and are no longer unique...... DD
That sounds like the Business Plan of a Discount Retailer that will accept lower margins with expectations of much higher volume to overcome the lower margins. STACK 'EM DEEP AND SELL 'EM CHEAP A the moment, I don't have Vegas ready to do that.
Maybe that is it, they are trying to be everything to everyone....and...... That is why Neiman Marcus is going out of business. It needs to choose.......volume or exclusivity? One is super expensive, one is cheap, the super rich have more choices, they have been trending towards everyone goes there, but everyone's disposable income is declining...so...... DD
