They know they are losing their popularity with the majority of Americans because of Trump's policies and his Brown Shirt loyalists in the GOP. So, Trump is urging them to redraw to find as many areas and neighborhoods with a lot of aged 50 white men as possible to make up the majority in extra districts. It's not about what the majority wants, it's about keeping control by shutting out the voices and votes of the majority, which is the only way they stand a chance. I hope it backfires, because we don't need Trump Brown Shirts controlling Texans any more. I just hope Hispanics finally realize Trump isn't going to make their life better. He's already lost the majority of black voters, so you know those districts will have all kinds of crooked turns to minimize their majorities in populated areas.

We need to turn Texas Blue.

Watching John Cornyn's commercials sure as heck isn't doing himself any favors saying he aligns with Trump 99% of the time. Just another Brown Shirt Bootlicker like Cruz, Abbott, Paxton, Crenshaw, and the rest.

He kills me bringing up about keeping trans out of sports on his commercials. Why do Republicans make sure they tout that like it's some huge need or benefit? That should be the least of anyone's concerns. Trans people make up less than less than 0.002% (10/500,000) of US college athletes, and even fewer of recent Olympians (0.001%) identify as trans. Not only that, but I doubt men are at a disadvantage of a woman transitioning to a man in sports, and probably a big percentage of men wanting to transition to a woman aren't even into sports.

We have far more important issues, like healthcare, the problems in nursing homes and care centers, the cost of healthcare, the unreliability of our energy grid, and pollution. Nothing about that makes me feel safe during hurricane season.

Now we have Republicans backing Trump in cutting the regs on fossil fuels and proposing to allow industries to spew more chemicals, and spew them more freely, while calling global warming and climate change a hoax. We already rank #1 in the nation for harmful chemicals in our water, and they are just hell bent on turning Texas into a toxic waste site full of cancer alleys and sick people all around this state, with air that stinks, water more toxic, and fish less safe to eat.

Even more sickening is he wants immigrant detention centers in Texas like the one in Florida. He says that on his website. Oh hell no. I'm all against spending 450 million of Texas tax dollars to house illegals. We already have to worry about with billion dollar hurricanes becoming more frequent, and other crap. We can't even get enough funding for things that are needed already like garbage trucks, road repairs, and more needed storm drainage.

We all know Trump and his bootlickers will do anything to win. Heck, most have that white supremacist ideology, and believe it's their right to shut out the votes of the minorities in Texas. They all know they would lose otherwise. It takes a whole lot of gerrymandering and squiggly lined districts to make the overwhelming majority of Texas districts a white majority. It's not about fair votes, where representation of all demographics is heard. It's all about rigging the system to make the white voters the overwhelming decision makers on who wins the race.

The Texas redistricting map includes 24 districts with white majorities, 8 with Hispanic majorities,
2 with a Black majority and four that have no majority

Everyone but the white Non-Hispanics in Texas are so grossly misrepresented in having their say in who they want as our leaders. It doesn't matter what policies they support, and what means most to them as voters.

The underrepresented Asian Americans represent the highest growing population in Texas. 54% of Asian Americans voted for Harris.

There is no Democracy in Texas. The Good 'Ole Boys will damn well make sure everyone else will do what they say, whether they like it or not.

Voters are now just bystanders... powerless to stop what's coming.

Gerrymandering Maximus is the latest harmful precedent this administration is setting, after Trump pushed multiple states to squeeze every advantage out of redistricting ahead of 2026. It was already bad, but now it's going full machine mode... computers will redraw maps every cycle to lock in wins for political parties. Democrats will respond in kind, and the arms race will escalate. The result? Voters will grow even more alienated from a system obsessed with protecting its own power... while stripping power away from the people.

Probably need 55-60% of Texans to vote Democrat to actually get a Democrat Legislature in the state. It is a big lift to overcome gerrymandering.

I can understand calling it ironic or hypocritical, but I don't understand calling it dumb.

good…she needs to get this done ASAP

it’s about time Dems stopped being weak and playing a completely different game…normally all you’d see is a bunch of “tsk tsk” and concerned tweets from spineless Democrats

imagine if Joe Biden had started telling blue states to redraw maps right before the 2022 midterms to try and get him 5+ seats

the real threat to Dem power is if SCOTUS abolishes racial gerrymandering

    https://www.politico.com/news/2025/08/01/supreme-court-louisiana-redistricting-order-00490390

The Supreme Court said Friday that it will weigh the constitutionality of a common form of redistricting used to protect the voting power of Black and Hispanic voters: the drawing of congressional districts where racial minorities make up at least half the population.
Experts in election law said the move signals that the court may be poised to further narrow the Voting Rights Act.

In a terse order issued Friday evening, the justices called for briefing on whether the "intentional creation of a second majority-minority congressional district violates the Fourteenth or Fifteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution."

The order came in a case challenging Louisiana's congressional map, which contains two majority-Black districts out of the state's six House seats.

The court heard arguments in the case in March and had been expected to rule by June. But on June 27, the justices punted the case into their next term and ordered that it be reargued.

Now, Friday's order loosely sketches the terrain on which the justices want further arguments: the claim that the longstanding practice of drawing majority-minority districts under the Voting Rights Acts may be unconstitutional because of its focus on race in drawing district lines. The voters challenging Louisiana's map had already advanced that constitutional claim in the case, but the justices' call for further briefing on the issue suggests they want to consider the claim more fully.

There's so many of these "imagine if [insert democrat here] had done this..." situations, it's honestly insane where we are as a country and how unpatriotic, blatantly racist, hateful, hypocritical, and stupid the magat movement has turned the GOP into.

Imagine if Joe Biden had pics and video of him partying with a known pedophile?
Imagine if Joe Biden had dinner with known white nationalists/neo-Nazis
Imagine if Joe Biden had bankrupted multiple businesses?
Imagine if Joe Biden had been convicted of felonies?
    Imagine....

    Man, that's f***ing exhausting.

I think you mean its about time they become more like the Republicans. Good news they have made great progress! They are now despised as much as Republicans.

    your post proves it.

You could just move to California instead of expecting everyone else around you to adhere to your expectations. You would have made a very good 50's-80's Christian/Baptist
