That makes sense, but it might be what HAS to happen, if we want a more competitive game that more girls can play. WNBA is weird on it's own anyway. I look at the standings from time to time and it's really feast or famine. There's like 2 or 3 legit teams, but all the other teams are not great. Even CC's team is really mid.

Ehh it is complicated, the NBA isn't running the WNBA because they are charitable. The NBA is running the NBA because they are getting something out of it valuable and think long term they will profit off it handsomely.

Amazon did not turn a profit until the last like 5-10 years - and had their labor force wanted a raise, no one would have been critical of them and the argument that Amazon wasn't profitable wouldn't have been carried a lot of weight.

I understand the argument on both sides, that the issue isn't really the NBA - but that in our current society, men athletics is more popular than female athletics.

If the WNBA thinks that they are getting the same dollar for dollar that the NBA gets, it isn't going to happen until viewer habits change. Having said that, WNBA players are underpaid - and the fact that the NBA is trying to establish dominion over female hoops does have value that needs to be considered when assigning salaries to WNBA players.

It's an early stage for a sport and as others have noted, the revenue simply isn't there and the players don't have the leverage to ask for more.

They need better agents who can hustle and drum up sponsorship deals. There is a lot of advertising money out there and business owners are just as starstruck with pro athletes as anyone else. 'Hey, (women's demographic product or service owner) I have this pretty and/or charismatic woman pro athlete who gets eyeballs every 3rd day during the week, can we work out sponsorship deal?' Then the athlete can work on their own brand, get speaking lessons, etc. Almost nobody in this country gets rich working just their regular job. Nolan Ryan is a GOAT but he's slinging jeans and sausages in his dotage. Gotta pay the bills.
