Ah, so you admit you would have considered a library promotional tour a loss for me. Clearly, I was right not to take the bet, and clearly, I was right about the whole thing. A bribe means you get the thing. Not that the country gets the thing and that after you leave office a library gets the thing and then maybe you use the thing to promote the library.

 

If you can convince yourself that trump's obvious drooling over the hideously luxurious aircraft, leading to the sheiks handing over the thing, didn't amount to a bribe, then good for you. They certainly viewed it as giving a "gift" to trump, and not to some nebulous library after he leaves office and certainly not to our country.

The bizarre interaction between the president of the United States and a group of Gulf royalty, a gang that should have been consigned to the "dustbin of history" long ago, is an embarrassment. An embarrassment for our country, for the office he holds, and for trump himself, not that he would notice. Not that he would care if he did.

We've been considered the most powerful nation in the world since the end of World War II, yet trump is clearly damaging our relations with our friends and allies, damaging our reputation world wide, busy making us look both foolish and dangerous. By doing so, he is weakening our country. Meanwhile, trump is working overtime enriching both himself and his family by taking advantage of the office. That's not why most of his followers made the mistake of voting for him. Not in my opinion.
