Remember the days where everybody was convinced that the Correa’s ultimate goal was to be in NYC for the duration? And yet his parents and his wife’s parents still living here. He was already a Houstonian for life and nobody had a clue.

Correa is going to be the next big-name analyst/announcer once his playing days are done. His time on the studio shows the last few years (since his team isn’t in the playoffs) has had every media exec drooling over his knowledge (remember, he was a HS valedictorian) and eloquence. Maybe he’ll take a SCSN gig at first… but he may already be too good for that.

Especially with his ability to connect between advanced analytics and how players are paid/perform. Still remember the awesome line during one of those playoff games…. “You’re not paying superstars to hit the balls in the corner of the strike zone that nobody can do anything with… you pay them to hit the mistakes.” (Which sounds simplistic enough, but then you realize how hard it is to hit a baseball that’s right down the middle consistently, every time, and not have it go right at somebody).

Wasn’t it pretty transparent that it was the chronic ankle/foot issue that the hardware was for that led to the contract void… not the back?

He’s certainly a competitor. All these guys are/were. I could see situations if any of these guys were on meh teams and the production starts to suffer (and all these other aches/issues start to feel a little bit more than its worth trying to still go 100%).

One unheralded thing about Springer/Correa/Bregman/Altuve…. They all possess that killer instinct and the competitive nature of which translated to becoming big game performers. Chicken or egg on that? They were also all damn close and those bonds probably also augmented performance on the field. Just a special group.

(And all that nostalgia will go in the bucket at the first 0-4 4K game).

I don't know how anyone can complain about yesterday. We basically got Correa, Sanchez, Urias and 30 mil for Ryan Gusto.

EDIT: And by the way...Brice and Cam are still here.

The swagger I've missed. Time to go full heel again.

I am excited for the defense Carlos will bring. I too worry about his hitting and his health. I love that we got Urias too.

Espada probably shouldn’t play Correa everyday.

I could see Carlos getting red hot outta the gate for us, which would be fantastic.

Paredes was gonna hit 30+ homers for us and was one of our very few patient and selective hitters. His bat wasn’t replaced. Yet the Astros did get better offensively overall, which was the goal. Paredes wasn’t coming back this season anyway, and thank goodness he got hurt right before the deadline instead of right after it.

There are 2 under the radar bonuses with having Correa back:

1.) The HEB commercials will no longer suck as referenced above

2.) I remember once in Chas' rookie year, Correa told him that he had a good approach in his abs and liked what he saw. Chas got all giddy cause a vet told him he was doing something good. Chas went on to have a pretty good rookie year. Maybe Correa tells him how bad he sucks now and how he should correct it and he becomes a serviceable mlb bat again.

I think he will have a tremendous impact on cam smith and Bryce Matthews.
Carlos is one smart hitter and is full of knowledge

It might be ridiculous but I have the same feeling of hope I had in 2015 when Carlos first came up.
The past 3 seasons have all been kind of gloomy with a cloud hanging over them.
Losing to the rangers, sucking at home, losing to the tigers, injuries etc.
    surely the clubhouse is stoked.

He may wear #4, he may be an Astros Icon, but there is only one C4

I resemble these remarks. I got a weirdass summer sinus infection/allergy thing last week and eventually spent 24 hours having a sneezing fit. On about the 473rd sneeze my back just blew up. It's not been a fun week.

My favorite from the past was when my back went out as I was bent over spitting toothpaste into the sink.

I am very sympathetic. Salt water solution has helped my sinuses amazingly. I recommend NeilMed NasalMist. Muscle Relaxers for the back.

    I'm a superior human being.
My nasal passages are beyond reproach.

the bottoms of my feet, on the other hand look like something you would see in a drought ravaged field in Africa.
    And I have a Bunyon. #Winning
