that's 2026 problem and it's not a guaranteed parades will be back 100%. like others have mentioned, parades will most likely come back playing DH or try to play 1B to start the season.

everyone in houston is celebrating through their nostalgia shades right now and that's ok. if he sucks, at least he's respected in the clubhouse/dugout. according to sources. team is mentally taxed trying to stay above water with all the AAA players and they need new (familiar) faces.

I wish I could feel elated, but I am somewhat sceptical. Injury proneness is not exactly what the Astro's needed to add to this team. Hope it works out.

Unfortunately, he hasn't been an MLB level player for some time now and was on his way out of the league. Fans will remember moments from 5 years ago, but Correa was widely seen as a Pujols type contract that no team wanted a part of. Crane makes a lot of emotional decisions that come back to bite him in the ass. He needs to be reminded he's an owner, not a fan out in the crawford boxes.

Is this serious? Correa was an MVP caliber player last season.

Yes that’s fine, and concerns about Correa being injury prone are valid (although at $21M/yr he is WELL worth the risk). But saying he was “on his way out of the league” is some of the stupidest **** I’ve ever read on this site (if it was actually meant seriously). Dude posted >.900 ops last year across over 300 pa in his age 29 season.

Then he would have received MVP level value on the open market.

Think of an actual MVP caliber player like Jarren Duran - do you have any idea what the asking price is for him?

Correa has numerous red flags beyond just injuries that had him essentially at no trade value. The Twins had to pay the Astros $33 million to take on a "MVP caliber player". You are far behind what scouts and GMs in the MLB already know about Correa and have for some time... his results this season have been inevitable and that's why you have team paying another to take on his contract. It's great you all get a feel good moment at the deadline but this contract is likely to handicap us going forward.

Do you realize how no trade clauses work? Especially when a player enforces it to only permit a trade to 1 team?

70mil over 3.5 years is not going to deter the Astros from anything

You should google a no-trade clause and work to understand it.

So the Twins are paying 33 million so in reality the Astros are getting Correa back at a less AAV salary than he turned down from them in spring training 2021.

They have been talking on 97.5 for a couple weeks there was a player with a no trade and the Astros were the only team that would accept a trade to its not hard to figure out it was Correa.

Don't be naive !! That's the marketing spin we've seen time and time again . A quid pro pro agreement where he'll go to any team that isn't a bottom feeder or in a worse situation than MInnesota.

The Twins were the only team willing to give Correa a big contract and you can bet they were desperate to find any value for him --- unfortunately there was none. Now if he regains 4-5 WAR form and proves the naysayers wrong I'll gladly eat my words, but if things continue as is we have to agree it was a panic decision that yes, will handicap the Stros ability to sign impact players in areas of need going forward.
