These trades remind me of the Braves flurry of moves at the deadline in 2021 where all 4 of their acquisitions ended up being hot down the stretch and in the playoffs.

We just went from 44% AAA starting fielders to 88% all MLP and when Pena is back 100% MLB players.

He apparently plays both LF (Spotrac) and RF (Baseball Reference) as each is listed as his position on different sights. A RFer who hits left handed sounds famliar.

Jesus Sanchez’ best comp is someone we don’t like — Jorge Soler. Huge power, lots of K’s, but when he’s on he can be a monster in short bursts. One of my favorite swings in baseball. If he can figure it out in Houston — look out.

I think some are being too hard on the Marlins - Sanchez is a platoon bat, granted it’s the strong side of the platoon. However, the Marlins got an MLB pitcher with like 6 years of control and if Gusto doesn’t pan out as a starter, he should at least be an average MLB reliever. Jaworsky is not physically growing like the Astros hope but he is a solid prospect, and Valencia is a major sleeper.

For the Astros, Sanchez has some unrealized talent and I think could be a later bloomer if the Astros have him in the line up every game against righties. He has lots of power and with patience could hit 20 homers of more in a platoon spot. He also is sneaky on the base paths.

I actually want to see him in the line up with Yordan with a righty sandwiched between them.

I think he isn’t going to blow anyone away, but fans will be happy with him hitting in the bottom half of the line up. He also can hit elite pitching, so he shouldn’t be overmatched in the playoffs.
