I'm sure there's a huge market for 3 players having awful seasons, one of whom is endlessly injured and making $17MM/yr for another full year, another of whom is also injured. Teams should jump at the opportunity to get these guys.
I think the Astros will tell Lance you won't start anymore. Maybe Tampa Bay wants you. Lance McCullers is from Tampa, Florida. Tampa Bay did take Forrest Whitley. If the Astros take on some Salary, Tampa Bay would want him.
Lance McCullers won't Start, once Garcia, Javier, Arrighetti return. Walter and Gordon are pitching well. Lance McCullers said he wants to start no matter what. Gotta go sometime. Bullpen or move on and be a Starter elsewhere.
It's bury me in the H. Not bury me in the TB. His wife has the same view. They have a restaurant, charity, and built a life in Houston. He has a Houston themed tattoo covering one of his arms.
Why would Tampa Bay, one of the lowest payroll teams in the league, want a highly paid, terrible, and injured pitcher? Did you even think this through?
I think Matthews should go down until September. Urias and Dubon can easily hold down 2nd base and Brice can hold onto his rookie designation next year. They should play him in CF at AAA. We’ve got the infield covered this year.
As many people expected he isn't ready to hit big league pitching, he looked completely overmatched in most of his PA. He still needs to further refine his approach in AAA. If I'm being honest in my assessment of what I saw, I'm not very high on his outlook. It's one thing to make bad swing choices, that can be improved. Far too often Matthews swung at good pitches and just missed them. Maybe the coaches can keep working and improve that, but ability to put bat to ball is a pretty innate thing. It's one thing when we were playing him over complete scrubs like Short, it's another thing when viable MLB options like Dubon and Urias are available to start.
I’ve kind of thought the same thing, but Dana seems to really believe in him and I think he has a great eye for talent.
The way the ball explodes off his bat when he does connect leaves me a lot of hope. If he can just hit .225 and strike out 35% instead of 45% he would be an above average major leaguer.
I’m not b****ing about the way we compete now, but I do miss the days when we struck out less than any team in the league. It was such a pleasure to watch how much pressure we would put on opposing pitchers.
